Chaport is customer messaging software from Chaport Inc. combining a website live chat widget, rule-based chatbots, a knowledge base and a multi-channel inbox in one operator application. A visitor clicks the widget in the corner of a page and the message lands beside email, Facebook, Telegram and Viber conversations, so a small team works from one screen instead of four.
The product is deliberately narrow. Chaport's own account of its origin is that this category of live chat software was packed with features most companies would never use, and that the complexity made the product hard for both chat operators and admins. That shapes who gets value: the automation is scenario-driven rather than generative, and the deepest integration path is Zapier plus a REST and JavaScript API rather than a native connector catalogue. For a two-to-ten-person team selling through a website that trade lands well; for one that needs phone as a first-class channel or AI reasoning over a help corpus, the ceiling arrives early.
One number is worth flagging before you use it as a sizing signal. The homepage and live chat page both invite you to join over 100,000 happy teams, while the About page counts 30,000+ users and the Zendesk comparison page says 30,000+ happy teams. Nothing on the site reconciles them, so treat adoption as unresolved.
The chatbot builder is a scenario editor, not a model. Chaport describes chatbots as programs that interact with website visitors based on the specified rules, and the reply options a visitor sees are buttons you defined. Behaviour stays predictable, but a question phrased unexpectedly falls through to a human rather than being interpreted.
Two scenario details change how you design flows. If a scenario ends on a bot message the chat stays assigned to the bot until the visitor writes again, and you find those in the Bot tab; if it ends with the visitor clicking a reply option it transfers to an operator. And proactive messaging is rationed per visitor, not per rule: either an auto-invitation or a bot message is sent to a visitor, and only once per visit. Arm both a welcome invitation and a qualification bot on one page and only one fires.
Setup takes the same shape on every platform: register, install the widget, adjust its appearance, then decide how much of the first response to automate.
Catching leads outside working hours. The Autoresponder replies when operators are busy or offline, and offline messages still reach you while the visitor receives email notifications. Paired with the Email request bot, a midnight visitor leaves a contact address rather than a bounce.
Deflecting repeat questions. The FAQ bot suggests knowledge base articles based on keywords in the customer's question, directly inside the widget. Publishing your ten most-repeated questions converts them from tickets into self-service, and the private-article option lets the same corpus double as an internal reference.
Routing by department without a phone tree. In a scenario, the Request info action with the field labelled "Choose a department (Team)" lets visitors pick where they belong, and the bot transfers to the corresponding team. Assignment rules do this automatically from visitor info and message text when you would rather not ask.
Selling from the widget. Auto-invitations open conversations on high-intent pages, and typing insights cut response time on the reply that matters.
Teams needing phone or SMS as a native channel will not find it; the list stops at chat, email and three messengers. Anyone expecting an AI agent to read a help corpus and compose an answer hits the rule-based ceiling fast, since the bot only knows branches you drew. And anyone who needs the operator dashboard localised should check first: the widget covers 38 languages, the operator app 4 — English, German, Russian and Spanish.
Comparison listings place Chaport against three products for three reasons. tawk.to is the cost reference, offering unlimited free agents where Chaport's free tier stops at two. Tidio and Crisp are the automation and channel references: both bundle an AI chatbot at a lower tier than Chaport gates its rule-based one, and Crisp carries WhatsApp, Instagram and Telegram natively. A software-selection listing scored Crisp higher on out-of-the-box requirement coverage while naming Chaport's simpler setup and multi-site handling as the reason to pick it instead. Two of these listings are published by a rival chat vendor and one by a vendor-partnered software-selection site, and Chaport's own Zendesk comparison pages are vendor-authored, so read all of them as such.
Chaport ships operator apps for iOS, Android, Web, Windows and MacOS with synchronisation between them, so an operator can answer from a phone and keep the same conversation state. Web, desktop and mobile apps are on every plan including Free.
The visitor-side widget is mobile-friendly and also reachable through a direct chat link, useful in email signatures or social profiles when you do not control the page. You can try the product without adding the widget to a site at all, so evaluation does not touch production markup.
Site integration has plugins for WordPress, Ecwid by Lightspeed, Joomla, Shopify and Bubble, plus a Google Analytics connection reporting chat events. Everything else runs through Zapier, which Chaport puts at 4,000+ apps, or the REST and JavaScript API. Both API surfaces are paid-tier features, as is the JavaScript route for forcing the widget into a specific language or syncing it with your site's language switcher.
| Plan | Listed price | Operators | Chat history | Notable inclusions |

| Pro | $29–$39/mo | 4 included | Unlimited | Auto-invitations, advanced widget customisation, email and messenger integration, saved replies, pre-chat form, detailed reports, autoresponder, REST and JavaScript API |

The two figures in each paid row are the annual and monthly rates from the pricing page's own toggle, not a discount. The Free plan is available forever, and after the 14-day trial an account that does not upgrade is downgraded to it with paid features disabled rather than locked out.
Three cost details sit outside the table. Orders run through Paddle.com as merchant of record, which also handles returns and billing inquiries. Prices exclude VAT, and customers without a VAT or tax number may be charged VAT or sales tax on top depending on location. And the refund position is absolute: regardless of billing cycle there are no refunds or credits for unused time or plan downgrades if you close the account early, with the terms stating there will be no exceptions.
The vendor's own numbers also disagree. The pricing page lists Unlimited at $99–$129 per month; the chatbot page and the knowledge base page each say those features are available on Chaport's Unlimited plan, which costs $75/month. Nothing reconciles the two, so confirm the rate in billing before committing.
Chaport processes two distinct populations of data, and the distinction decides which policy applies to you. Its Privacy Policy governs information about Chaport's own users and explicitly does not apply to information those customers process when using the Services — your visitors' data sits under your policy, not Chaport's.
For data it does hold, the disclosures are concrete. To provide the service it stores all chat history and any associated customer information not previously deleted by the user or by Chaport at the user's request, which may include email, phone number, name and anything sent through chat forms or messages. Retention is need-based rather than fixed: information is kept while an ongoing legitimate business need exists, then deleted, anonymised, or — where backup archives prevent that — securely stored and isolated from further processing until deletion becomes possible. On payment data the position is clean: Chaport never asks for credit card details and neither stores nor processes them, with billing performed by a PCI DSS compliant third-party service.
The GDPR tooling is built into the product rather than promised in prose. You can delete chats with their associated visitor information from inside the app and export individual chats in JSON, delete or export all personal data belonging to your account, add customisable legal text visitors see before starting a chat, and require a yes/no marketing permission answer when you request an email address, with the answer visible in the app or API. EEA residents have access, erasure, rectification, objection, restriction and portability rights, all exercised by emailing Chaport. The Data Processing Addendum is not self-service: signing one requires a request to Chaport's legal address. Two further boundaries — Chaport does not knowingly collect information from children under 13, who are prohibited from using the service, and a data breach carries a stated commitment of email notification within 7 business days.
Two operators, unlimited chats and websites, a 60-day chat history window, basic widget customisation, one default branded auto-invitation, and the web, desktop and mobile apps. It is available forever, and an account that does not upgrade after the trial is downgraded to it rather than closed.
Fourteen days of the Unlimited plan, no credit card required. Registering activates it automatically, and afterwards the account drops to Free with paid features disabled.
No. Chaport describes them as programs that interact with visitors based on specified rules, built in a scenario editor with reply options presented as buttons. They handle predictable flows and hand off to a human otherwise — a different capability from a model that interprets an unanticipated question.
Live chat, email, Facebook, Telegram and Viber. Email and messenger integration begins on Pro, so the Free tier is chat-widget only.
No. The terms state that regardless of billing cycle, Chaport provides no refunds or credits for unused time or plan downgrades if you close your account before the end of the subscription period, and that there will be no exceptions.
It detects a visitor's language and switches automatically across 38 languages. Forcing a specific language or syncing with your site's languages uses the JavaScript API, a paid-plan feature.
Yes, but not from inside the app. Chaport has prepared a DPA and asks companies needing to sign one to request it at its legal email address.
The site does not explain why. The pricing page shows $99–$129 per month while the chatbot and knowledge base pages both state $75/month. Confirm the figure in billing before subscribing.
