Botmaker is a cloud platform for building AI agents that run customer conversations and back-office workflows on WhatsApp, Instagram, phone lines, websites and other channels from one console. Bots, generative AI and human agents share the same inbox, so a chat can move from automation to a person without changing tools.
The company presents itself as an official WhatsApp Solution Provider, which means this WhatsApp chatbot platform can create and manage WhatsApp Business Platform accounts for customers rather than only connecting to a number someone already runs. Its online terms are issued by BOTMAKER INC, a Delaware corporation, or its subsidiaries and affiliates in Argentina and Brazil. Botmaker says it operates in Brazil, Argentina, Colombia, Mexico, the US and more than 40 countries, and a 2022 Argentine tech-media profile dates its founding to 2016.
Two points matter most when comparing costs: WhatsApp's own charges for business-initiated messages sit on top of Botmaker's monthly plans, and the pricing pages, terms and FAQ meter usage in different units.
Botmaker says its agents are built with prompts on top of a state architecture meant to keep control at every step, and that they plug into management systems to finish processes end to end. The help center calls this Botmaker 3.0, an agent-based version for workflows that run without scripts. The site also describes an in-house engine for interpreting user intents in text or voice. In a September 2025 trade-press interview, the CEO said responses draw on large language models from providers such as Google, OpenAI and Meta, and described Callbots as recently launched, with customers still exploring how to use it.
Both tools learn from your team's own material: past agent answers feed the knowledge base, and co-pilot suggestions are refined from agent-user interactions (see the privacy notes below).
Service can run 100% human, 100% automated or hybrid, where both the bot and the agent can answer. The live console shows every bot conversation in real time, lets staff escalate to a human, and lets agents archive, postpone or refer chats. Botmaker Call turns a chat into an audio or video call with one click from that console.
WhatsApp runs through the server-side WhatsApp Business Platform, not the phone app. The onboarding described in the FAQ works like this:
If everything is in order, a new account can be ready in as little as 3 days; corrections requested during review push that back.
Self-Service means configuring the platform yourself from online documentation, starting from a pre-configured bot, with support during business hours by email and inside the platform. The Account Manager option adds a bot expert who helps set up the bot, with support by email, phone and WhatsApp.
Sole traders who only need the WhatsApp Business phone app are outside the product's design, since Botmaker uses the server-based platform.
Botmaker pricing is published in USD on the English page:
| Plan | Monthly price | Conversations included | Free agent seats | Extra conversation | Support |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | $149 USD | 3,000 | 10 | $0.07 | Chat, platform and email |
| Scale | $249 USD | 5,000 | 20 | $0.06 | Chat, platform and email |
| Pro | $499 USD | 10,000 | 50 | $0.05 | Chat, platform and email |
| Enterprise | On request | Unlimited | Customized | Not listed | Personalized attention |
Every plan lists free account creation, up to 300 free initial conversations and unlimited bots.
The Portuguese page is not a currency conversion; allowances differ:
| Plan | Monthly price | Monthly conversations | Agent licenses | Extra conversation |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Standard | R$600 | Up to 900 | 10 | R$0.46 |
| Scale | R$1,100 | Up to 1,800 | 10 | R$0.40 |
| Pro | R$2,250 | Up to 4,300 | 20 | R$0.31 |
On that page, opening the WhatsApp account costs R$500 once.
A separate Botmaker explainer still describes the conversation-category model Meta introduced in June 2023, while Meta's current page describes per-message charging. The explainer also says free conversations refer to WhatsApp Business Platform values and have no relation to Botmaker's business model, which is the clearest statement that the two bills are separate.
A Spanish add-on list says these extras may cost more than the platform license:
| Add-on | Listed price |
|---|---|
| Premium actions (intent emails, spreadsheet rows, site search, CRM data exchange, calendar events) | 2,000 executions free per month, then 0.003 USD each |
| Speech to text / text to speech | 60 minutes free per month, then 0.08 USD per minute |
| Real-time translation | 0.20 USD per 100 translated words |
| Message encryption | $5 USD per encrypted gigabyte |
The units do not match across official pages. The plans count conversations, while the terms bill by DAILY USER: an external user who exchanges messages in one channel counts once per session or per 24-hour period, whichever is shorter. The FAQ says the price combines an initial set-up fee with a monthly fee based on the number of messages. The WhatsApp channel page offers 1,000 user-initiated free conversations, against 300 on the pricing page, and a plan simulator lower on the pricing page shows USD 150 and USD 250.
A free messaging trial plan may be offered; its messages must be used within a 30, 60 or 90-day period. Either party may cancel at any time without penalty by filing a request in the platform, but cancelling between the 1st and 15th day of the contracting month still means paying the full month. Late payments carry a 2% fine plus inflation.
Botmaker publishes per-plan prices and conversation allowances on its site and adds channels aimed at Latin America such as Mercado Libre. Buyers who mainly need WhatsApp campaigns, or consumption-based enterprise billing, may find a closer match in the other two.
No. Notifications sent outside the 24-hour reply window are billed at WhatsApp's cost plus a 20% fee, and the WhatsApp account itself costs $99 USD once on the USD page.
Only if that mobile number has no WhatsApp account of any type. Once activated on the WhatsApp Business Platform, it cannot return to the WhatsApp Business or regular app.
The co-pilot is described as ChatGPT-based, the site mentions an in-house intent engine, and the CEO has named Google, OpenAI and Meta as model providers.
The plans table lists free account creation and up to 300 free initial conversations, but every listed tier is paid; the terms describe a time-limited free messaging trial that blocks the account when it runs out.
