What is TestMu AI?

TestMu AI (formerly LambdaTest) is a cloud software-testing platform that combines AI agents for planning and writing tests with hosted browsers, emulators, and physical phones for running them. The company describes it as a unified quality engineering platform that helps engineering teams automate end-to-end testing across web, mobile, and AI applications.

The name change took effect on January 12, 2026, and the company says the team, infrastructure, and customer accounts stayed the same. Traffic to lambdatest.com now resolves to testmuai.com, with deep links redirecting to their equivalent pages on the new domain. The business started as LambdaTest in 2017 and reports being trusted by more than 18,000 enterprises worldwide. Independent tech press reported in December 2024 that the company, then still called LambdaTest, raised $38 million in a Series D round that brought its total funding to $108 million. On the analyst side, the company says it was named a Challenger in the 2025 Gartner Magic Quadrant and recognized in The Forrester Wave: Autonomous Testing Platforms, Q4 2025.

Core features

The product line splits into an authoring agent, an execution cloud with test management, and a separate suite for evaluating conversational AI.

KaneAI authoring agent

KaneAI is the AI testing agent at the center of the platform, and most of its controls concern how tests are written and kept current:

  • Plain-English tests: Testers describe a scenario in natural language and KaneAI turns it into executable test steps without code.
  • Requirement inputs: A Jira ticket, PRD, PDF, screenshot, or spreadsheet can be dropped in to get structured test cases back.
  • Self-healing: When the UI shifts and locators change, KaneAI updates the affected steps and surfaces the diff for review.
  • Approval before execution: Each test plan KaneAI drafts can be reviewed, tweaked, and approved before it runs.
  • Code export: Generated tests export to Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and Appium in multiple languages, which the vendor presents as a way to avoid lock-in.
  • API and database layers: API checks run alongside UI flows in the same run, and a connected database lets KaneAI generate tests from live queries.
  • Accessibility checks: A WCAG audit runs with every test, with issues prioritized by severity.
  • Flow logic and reuse: If/Else and While loops can be written in natural language to handle popups, retries, and dynamic UI, and every test change is versioned so versions can be compared or rolled back.
  • Coverage: One agent authors tests that run across desktop browsers, mobile web, and native mobile apps.
  • Bug filing: On a failure, KaneAI captures the trace, drafts the ticket, and routes it to the right owner in the team's bug tracker.

Execution and test management

  • HyperExecute: An AI-native test orchestration cloud that the company claims is up to 70% faster than any cloud grid, with fail-fast aborts and intelligent retries.
  • Test Manager: Test cases can be created with AI, managed and executed in one place, and synced with Jira.
  • Test analytics: Paid Automation plans include usage reports, test insights, and flaky test trends.

Testing conversational AI agents

Agent Testing scores every conversation across 9 quality metrics, ranging from hallucination and bias detection to context awareness and conversation flow. It can also auto-generate 60-100+ test scenarios from uploaded documents, PRDs, or connected Jira and Confluence spaces. For voice deployments, production call recordings can be uploaded for batch analysis with the same evaluation metrics, and business measures such as CSAT, sentiment, containment rate, and handoff trends can be tracked. A newer module, Agent Assurance, is promoted for checking what an agent actually did rather than what it said, but as of October 5, 2026 it is offered only through a waitlist.

Guide

KaneAI's documented first run takes three steps:

  1. Sign in to a TestMu AI account.
  2. Create a first KaneAI web or app test.
  3. Write the steps in natural language, and KaneAI converts them into executable test cases automatically.

Teams that prefer the terminal can install Kane CLI from npm with the command npm install -g @testmuai/kane-cli. The same KaneAI flows can then be triggered from a terminal, a CI pipeline, or a coding agent, and the runs sync back to the dashboard for replay and reporting. Instructions do not have to be written in English: KaneAI translates instructions written in another language, such as Spanish, into English to understand the context before it acts.

Connecting an AI coding client to the MCP server follows its own short sequence:

  1. Choose an MCP-compatible client, such as Cursor.
  2. Add the server configuration; in Cursor this means opening Cursor Settings > Tools & MCP and clicking Add new MCP server.
  3. Complete the OAuth flow with a TestMu AI account when prompted.

TestMu AI use cases and examples

  • Cross browser testing: Paid Live plans cover live interactive testing on 3,000+ browser and OS combinations.
  • Region-specific behavior: Virtual Live and the desktop web automation plans include out-of-the-box geolocation testing across 150+ countries.
  • Mobile apps on physical hardware: Live and automated tests run on 10,000+ physical iOS and Android devices from a browser or CI, with no device lab to buy or maintain.
  • Biometric and login flows: Face ID, Touch ID, and fingerprint prompts can be passed or failed on demand, including checks of the passcode fallback.
  • Carrier and network conditions: Real devices add 3G, 4G, 5G, and offline throttling, plus SIM-enabled handsets for SMS and OTP flows.
  • Choosing devices or emulators: The vendor recommends emulators and simulators for fast, low-cost checks during development, and real devices for release sign-off, customer-bug reproduction, and hardware-dependent features.
  • Chatbot and voice agent QA: AI evaluators test chatbots, voice assistants, and calling agents for hallucinations, bias, toxicity, and compliance problems.
  • IVR and phone bots: IVR systems and inbound support bots are tested with real phone calls and scored across 30+ metrics.
  • Pull-request validation (beta): Mentioning @KaneAI with "Validate this PR" in a GitHub pull request makes it read the diff, generate and execute tests, and post the results back in the thread.

Who is it for

  • QA teams with mixed coding skills: Because tests are authored in natural language, anyone on the team can describe a flow without writing or maintaining script code, while engineers who want code still get it.
  • Teams still evaluating: The free Automation plan is pitched for evaluation and a first suite rather than continuous integration; once its minutes run out, continued execution requires a paid plan.
  • Enterprises with security requirements: The custom-priced Enterprise tier adds SOC1/SOC2 security, SSO, IP whitelisting, custom data retention, dedicated solutions and customer success managers, a private Slack channel, and on-premise options.
  • Nonprofits: Eligible nonprofits qualify for special pricing on yearly subscriptions.

Platforms

  • CI/CD and tool integrations: Existing API keys, webhooks, Selenium and Appium Grid endpoints, and 120+ third-party integrations, including Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Slack, and Jira, carried over unchanged from LambdaTest.
  • Issue trackers: Test cases can be built, assigned, and updated directly inside Jira or Azure DevOps through the TestMu AI app.
  • AI coding clients: A remote MCP server connects MCP-compatible AI clients to a TestMu AI testing environment, exposing tools for HyperExecute, Automation, SmartUI, Accessibility, and Test Manager through natural-language prompts.
  • Mobile frameworks: Native app automation on virtual devices supports Appium, Espresso, XCUI, and Detox.
  • Frameworks: HyperExecute orchestrates Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, and other major frameworks, plus low-code tools such as Tosca and Katalon, API tests, and JMeter performance tests.
  • Deployment options: The real device cloud is available as a public, dedicated, or on-premise device cloud.

Pricing

Billing is per parallel session rather than per named user on every product line except Test Manager, so adding testers does not automatically add cost. Prices below are in USD per month as listed on October 5, 2026.

The plan cards also list a Linux-only desktop web automation plan at $29 per month billed annually, while the pricing FAQ says paid automation plans start at $79. Beyond the 2-minute live sessions, the free Live tier includes 5 real-device sessions of up to 2 minutes each every month and 100 accessibility tests per organisation.

KaneAI is metered in credits. Starter includes 2,000 credits per agent, which the vendor equates to about 25 test creations of roughly 40 steps; Pro includes 12,000 credits, Cloud KaneAI Web, and 100 HyperExecute minutes a month; Max includes 25,000 credits, Cloud KaneAI Web and Mobile, and 300 HyperExecute minutes. Kane CLI itself is free to install, local runs are free, and cloud runs draw on the plan's monthly credits.

Other cost rules that change the bill:

  • Agent Testing pricing scales with usage, such as test scenarios, conversations, and channels, rather than a flat seat count.
  • Every paid Automation plan includes 300 HyperExecute minutes a month to get started.
  • SmartUI visual regression is priced in tiers by screenshot count; its free tier includes 2,000 screenshots with one month of build history.
  • All major credit and debit cards are accepted, and PayPal is available on annual subscriptions.
  • There are no public coupon codes, AppSumo bundles, or lifetime deals.

The pricing FAQ states that plans can be cancelled or downgraded at any time from the billing portal, that changes take effect from the next billing cycle, and that fees already paid are non-refundable. Some customers describe a different experience: as captured on October 5, 2026, three of the most recent reviews on a third-party review platform (95 reviews, 3.2 out of 5 overall) said a subscription could not be cancelled from the account dashboard or by the reviewer directly.

TestMu AI alternatives

  • BrowserStack: Its homepage lists 30,000+ real iOS and Android devices, against the 10,000+ physical devices TestMu AI advertises.
  • Sauce Labs: It offers natural-language test authoring inside the IDE that outputs executable tests in frameworks such as Selenium, Cypress, and Appium. Its real device cloud lists 10,000+ real devices and 3,000+ OS/browser combinations, headline coverage close to TestMu AI's.

Limitations

  • No warranty on AI output: The Terms of Service say any use of AI outputs is at the customer's sole risk and that AI output should not be relied on as a sole source of truth.
  • Test environments are not storage: TestMu AI may delete and reset the test environment after each test and is not obliged to keep backups of customer content beyond test execution data and related logs.
  • Automatic renewal: Subscriptions renew automatically on a monthly or annual basis, depending on the subscription term.
  • Browser-based load tests cost more: In JMeter performance testing, a browser-based test consumes 10 VUH per virtual user, compared with 1 VUH for an API test.
  • Mixed review signal: As captured on October 5, 2026, the 95 company-level reviews on that review platform split 55% five-star and 32% one-star, and the profile noted that the company had not replied to negative reviews.

Privacy and data

  • Model training: TestMu AI states that customer inputs and outputs are never used to train any LLM models.
  • Certifications: The company lists SOC 2 Type II, ISO 27001:2022, ISO 27017:2015, and ISO 27701:2019 certifications.
  • Encryption: Data at rest is encrypted with AES-256, with keys managed through key management services.
  • Retention: Encrypted test execution data such as logs, videos, and screenshots is stored for 30 days by default.
  • Ownership: Customers retain all rights, including intellectual property rights, in content they submit or generate through the service.
  • Roles and regulations: The privacy policy treats the customer as the controller of test execution data and TestMu AI as the processor. The company also says its privacy program aligns with GDPR, the California Consumer Privacy Act, and other applicable laws.
