Filevine is a cloud platform for legal work used by law firms, government legal offices and in-house teams. Its services cover legal case management, contract management, document management, document assembly, e-signatures, time, billing and payments.
On top of that platform sits LOIS, the Legal Operating Intelligence System, which Filevine positions as the AI that runs the modern law firm across workflows, individual cases and whole case loads. The company says LOIS is built on 40M+ matters and a purpose-built legal graph, and that it reads across an entire caseload rather than one file at a time.
Part of the AI line came through acquisition: Filevine bought Pincites, an AI contract-redlining company, in a deal that closed in December and was described as its second major AI acquisition. The product is now sold as LOIS for Word, formerly Pincites.
Two facts shape most buying decisions. There is no public price list, because packages are quoted per firm, and the base subscription includes only metered AI access, with the fuller LOIS modules sold as separate packages.
Filevine's features split into the case and matter platform and the LOIS AI modules. Which modules a firm can use depends on the package it buys, so the list below describes capabilities, not a single default plan.
LOIS Legal Research is Filevine's AI legal research module and is licensed separately from the base platform.
The legal case management software is the base layer that the AI modules read from and write to.
Filevine is built for organizations that practice law, not for individuals looking for legal help.
The pricing page shows no package prices: all packages are custom built for each team's needs. The free entry point is a LOIS trial with no credit card required, and LOIS Explore does not include Filevine Case Management.

Per-Project LOIS packages carry a contracted minimum number of Projects each billing year that is owed regardless of use, and unused Projects do not roll over. On termination, fees paid are non-refundable outside the stated exceptions and fees for the rest of the term become due. Unused Depo CoPilot depositions also do not roll over and are not refunded. A deposition counts once a recording starts in Depo CoPilot or an uploaded audio or video file runs 10 minutes or more.
Practice-management suites with published per-user prices are the main contrast to Filevine's quote-only model.
The split is mostly about scope: Filevine bundles AI modules such as MedChron, deposition tools and LOIS for Word into negotiated packages, while the two suites above show a price before any sales conversation.
The Subscription Agreement commits to commercially reasonable efforts for at least 99.0% availability measured over each calendar month. The security FAQ instead describes 99.0% uptime during standard business hours, Monday to Friday 8am–5pm MST, so the two pages define the window differently. Service level credits are the exclusive remedy for missed uptime, and a credit request must arrive within 10 days of the end of the affected month.
An independent security researcher reported finding a live, fully scoped admin token to one law firm's entire Box file system through a Filevine subdomain. The researcher dates the discovery to October 27, 2025, and says Filevine confirmed the fix on November 21, 2025. According to the researcher, the incident involved a single law firm on a non-production instance, and no other Filevine clients were impacted.
No package prices appear on the pricing page. Plans are custom quotes; the product specifications describe billing units such as per user per month or per Project, and list a few fixed fees such as the Lead Docket text line.
Yes, through LOIS Explore, if you are an active legal professional and not already a Filevine customer. The evaluation defaults to 90 days from first access and does not include Filevine Case Management.
The Subscription Agreement says third-party AI providers are contractually barred from training on subscriber data. Filevine itself may use de-identified, aggregated data to improve its services.
Filevine says it endeavors to comply with the HIPAA Security Rule and that its SOC 2 Type II audit tested HIPAA safeguards. Its security page cites different CJIS policy versions in two places.
LOIS for Meetings is an iOS app. For the main platform, the security FAQ says there is no separate mobile app and points to Chromium-based browsers, while another page mentions mobile versions.
