LuxAlgo is a browser-based trading research platform. LuxAlgo describes itself as the company behind Vela, a charting platform with its Quant coding agent built in, alongside an indicator library of 800+ tools.
LuxAlgo was founded in Boston in 2020, says it is used by 100,000+ traders, and describes a lean team of 10+ people, mostly engineers and traders. The website is operated by LuxAlgo Global, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company doing business as LuxAlgo. For more than five years LuxAlgo built tools for charting platforms it did not own, and then launched Vela as its own charting platform, engineered in-house on an open-source core.
In practice, LuxAlgo combines four jobs in one window: charting, orderflow analysis, AI-assisted indicator and strategy coding, and backtesting with alerts. It is a research tool rather than a broker or an adviser: LuxAlgo does not execute trades or provide personalized investment advice.
Vela is the charting surface everything else runs on. It ships 66 drawing tools across 7 groups, and every plan, including Free, opens 16 charts per tab.
The strategy report shows net profit, profit factor, win rate, average P&L and closed trades, split by long and short, so a strategy that only works in one direction stands out.
The orderflow suite covers trade-accurate cumulative volume delta (CVD), footprints, volume profiles, TPO and open interest. LuxAlgo says every plan runs it on real trades, including Free, and only the lookback window scales with the plan.
The LuxAlgo Library maps 850+ trading concepts and contains 800+ open indicator implementations. The whole Library is also available through an MCP server that is free, with no key and no signup.
Strategy Screener, previously called the AI Backtesting Assistant, searches stored backtesting results for over 10 million strategies built from the Signals & Overlays, Price Action Concepts and Oscillator Matrix toolkits. Quant writes new code, whereas Strategy Screener finds existing toolkit strategies, and both draw on the same credit balance.
Strategy alerts can notify users inside the app, by email, or through webhooks to third-party platforms, including automated trading setups.
The workflow below is how Quant handles backtesting trading strategies, from a plain-language idea to a tested script on the active chart:
Conversation length affects cost. Long chats consume credits faster because the whole conversation is context for every new request, and LuxAlgo suggests starting a new chat at around 50 messages, especially when switching to an unrelated script.

LuxAlgo and TradingView are separate companies. Vela charts are rendered by LuxAlgo's own charting engine, certain LuxAlgo tools are also published for use on TradingView, and LuxAlgo's terms state that TradingView, Inc. is not affiliated with LuxAlgo and does not sponsor or endorse it. The LuxAlgo pages checked for this listing do not say whether using its tools on TradingView requires a particular TradingView plan.
LuxAlgo pricing has a Free plan and four paid plans, each billed monthly or annually. The table lists standard USD list prices and core allowances.
| Plan | Monthly billing | Annual billing | Monthly credits | Strategy alerts | Orderflow lookback | Chart history |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0, no credit card required | $0 | 500 | 5 | 1 day | 5,000 bars |
| Essential | $39.99/mo | $24.99/mo, billed annually at $299.88/yr | 2,000 | 50 | 30 days | 10,000 bars |
| Premium | $67.99/mo | $39.99/mo, billed annually at $479.88/yr | 5,000 | 100 | 90 days | 20,000 bars |
| Ultimate | $119.99/mo | $59.99/mo, billed annually at $719.88/yr | 25,000 | 200 | 1 year | 30,000 bars |
| AI Ultra | $229.99/mo | $119.99/mo, billed annually at $1,439.88/yr | 100,000 | 500 | Full history | 50,000 bars |
Credits are one balance shared by Quant and the Backtesting Assistant, and the balance resets on the first of every month. Unused monthly credits do not carry over; on an active paid plan, one-time credit packs can be bought, and purchased credits are used after the monthly allowance and stay available until used. Chart history is capped by the plan's historical bars, a limit that is separate from the orderflow lookback window.
Strategy alerts exist on every plan, including Free. Paid plans add the full Library, live CME futures and higher allowances, and Premium and above also include webhook automation and Quant code repair.
As captured on October 6, 2026, the pricing page showed an annual-billing promotion: Essential at $224.91 for the first year, then $299.88/yr; Premium at $335.92, then $479.88/yr; Ultimate at $431.93, then $719.88/yr; and AI Ultra at $647.95, then $1,439.88/yr. The captured page did not state when the promotion ends. Plans renew automatically, promotional pricing applies to the initial payment only, and renewals bill at the then-current standard rate.
Plan changes have their own rules. An upgrade charges the full price of the new plan and converts unused time on the old plan into time on the new one; changing plans removes any discount, and plan changes are not refundable. Tax, where it applies, is calculated at checkout from the billing address, and in some countries prices are charged in a local currency that then stays fixed for the account.
The 30-day money-back guarantee applies once per customer and covers only the first subscription payment, not renewals, plan changes, later payments, credit packs or gifts. After a refund, paid access ends immediately and the refund can take up to 10 business days to appear.
LuxAlgo's own toolkits straddle two platforms: Premium and above add the Signals & Overlays, Price Action Concepts and Oscillator Matrix toolkits, each with its screener, which LuxAlgo says are also available on TradingView. Two alternatives cover similar ground in different ways:
The Vela product page says the Library's exclusive indicators are available to every user, while the plan descriptions say the full Library comes with paid plans; the two pages disagree.
As captured on October 6, 2026, LuxAlgo's company profile on a third-party review platform showed a 4.4 score from 1,702 company-level reviews, and the profile notes that the company invites customers to leave reviews. That platform's AI-generated summary of 344 recent reviews was mostly positive, but reviewers also raised automatic subscription renewals, unexpected billing charges and difficulty obtaining refunds.
The pages reviewed describe Vela as LuxAlgo's own browser charting platform, reached with a LuxAlgo account, and do not list a TradingView account as a requirement for it. TradingView only comes into play for pasting Quant's Pine Script there or for the LuxAlgo tools published on that platform.
No. The Free plan has no time limit, and instead of a trial, paid plans carry a 30-day money-back guarantee on the first subscription payment.
Charts include real-time stocks, ETFs, crypto, forex and commodities on every plan, including Free, while live CME futures data is included with every paid plan.
Paid access continues until the end of the paid period. After that, the account moves to Free, existing strategy alerts are paused and their webhooks are switched off.
No. LuxAlgo calls backtesting research, not prophecy: the animated reports on its backtesting page use illustrative example data, and actual results vary with markets, settings and costs.
