What is Morphic?

Morphic is a browser-based AI studio for generating images, video and audio and assembling them into finished stories. The company describes it as an AI-powered intelligent canvas and end-to-end editor for controlled video generation, built around frame generation, character poses, interpolation and animation.

The product combines a canvas, a chat and a library that share one file, plus a timeline editor called Compose.

Morphic was launched in 2024 by Jaynti Kanani, the former CEO and founder of blockchain company Polygon, with bases in San Jose, New York, Dubai and Bangalore, according to entertainment trade press coverage from May 2025. The same coverage describes Morphic as both an AI tech developer and a production studio, then making its first anime series, DQN, with Tokyo-based studio 4861. As captured on October 5, 2026, the company lists a team of 22 members across 8 countries with offices in 3 locations.

Core features

As an AI video generator, Morphic starts from whatever you already have: a prompt, a still image or a set of keyframes. From a single prompt it can generate images, add motion and tie the result together with sound. Generation runs across more than 80 models for stills, clips, voiceover, music and sound effects.

Canvas, Copilot and Compose

The Canvas is where images and clips are generated and refined. Copilot reads the conversation, plans the request, picks models, writes the prompts and replies.

Compose is an agentic video editor with a full multi-track timeline that turns generated clips into a finished video inside Morphic. You can trim and arrange clips by hand, or tell Copilot the edit you want and let it change the timeline for you.

Generation and editing tools

  • Frames to video: select 2-5 frames of a scene and Morphic generates the in-between motion to create a video.
  • References: save characters and styles as references to keep a consistent look across generations. The Free plan includes one saved reference, Basic through Max include 100, and Enterprise has no limit.
  • 3D motion: place multiple camera angles around a still image in 3D space to produce smooth, depth-based motion.
  • Inpainting: add, remove or refine specific characters and objects within a frame using a single prompt.
  • Resizing: extend images or videos beyond their original frame with generated content that matches the scene.
  • Colorization: transfer the color palette, tone and overall mood of one image to another.
  • Camera motion: direct how the camera moves through a scene, with pan, tilt, zoom or pedestal moves.

Workflows and collaboration

Workflows chain generation steps together so that a process you have already worked out can run again on new inputs without being rebuilt.

Files are shared spaces: two people can work in the same file at once, and comments stay attached to the element they are about.

Guide

A typical project moves from generation on the Canvas to assembly and export in Compose.

From prompt to exported video

  1. Start from a prompt, an uploaded still or your own footage; WebM and MP4 video files are supported for upload.
  2. Generate images or clips on the Canvas, or ask Copilot to run them for you.
  3. Drag the results onto the Compose timeline and trim, arrange and caption them.
  4. Click Export; exporting turns everything on the timeline into a single MP4, rendered free in your browser or on Morphic's servers on a paid plan.
  5. Choose quality (Match timeline, 720p, 1080p, 1440p or 2160p/4K), a codec (H.264 or H.265) and subtitle handling (burned into the video, or separate SRT or ASS files).

Browser rendering costs no credits, but the tab has to stay open until it finishes. Server rendering uses credits for the time the render runs: 9 for a short render, then about 8 to 9 a minute, and starting one sets aside at least 45 credits that are settled against the actual cost.

Morphic use cases and examples

Morphic's published examples lean toward narrative production, marketing and pre-production; case-study timelines are vendor-reported, not independently measured.

Animation and episodic storytelling

  • Anime series trailer: Morphic reports that a trailer for the anime feature series DQN came together in 3 weeks, with concept art, scene layouts and animation made in the product.
  • Graphic novel to trailer: a graphic novel series reportedly grew to over 100 pages plus animated trailers in 2 months while keeping its hand-drawn look.

Marketing and commerce

  • UGC-style ads: a product photo plus a chosen format becomes a realistic UGC-style ad showing someone naturally using the product.
  • Virtual try-on: pairing a garment photo with a person photo shows that person wearing the garment while keeping their identity intact.

Pre-production and games

  • Storyboards: the cinematic storyboard workflow works as an AI storyboard generator, turning a scene description plus character references into a full storyboard with shot angles and mood.
  • Game assets: Morphic claims its tools help game teams create assets while cutting time to market by more than half; on the pages reviewed, the claim is not accompanied by a methodology.

Who is it for

Morphic is aimed at creators, filmmakers and animators producing stories with AI. It fits best when you need an AI animation tool with keyframe, reference and camera control rather than a single prompt box.

Good fit

  • Small production teams: Pro allows up to 5 organization users and Max up to 10, with additional seats at $10 per user per month, while Free, Basic, Standard and Education are limited to one user.
  • Students and teachers: the Education plan offers discounted pricing exclusively for educational use.
  • Studios and agencies that want hands-on help: Enterprise customers can work directly with the Morphic team through a private Slack channel.

Less suitable for

  • Commercial work on a free account: on free, trial or promotional plans, outputs are licensed only for personal, non-commercial use unless Morphic permits otherwise in writing.

Platforms

Morphic runs in the browser with no downloads or installs. It also connects to AI assistants and external systems:

  • MCP: Claude, Claude Code, VS Code, Codex or Zed can connect to Morphic and make images, video and audio from inside the assistant you already use. MCP access works on every plan.
  • MCP limits: running a workflow, using video-to-video or saving a new reference still requires opening Studio.
  • ChatGPT and Codex: a Morphic plugin for ChatGPT makes images, video and audio without leaving the chat, and in Codex you can attach it to a task through Use plugins.
  • Partner API: the Partner API starts a Morphic workflow from your own software. It is in early access with v1 live, and field names and limits can still change.

Pricing

Credits are the single currency across images, video, audio, workflows and Copilot replies. Paid plans include a monthly credit allowance, and prices are in US dollars.

PlanMonthly billingYearly billing (per month)Credits per monthExtra members
Free$0$020 one-time creditsNot available
Education$5$46101 user only
Basic$19$192,400Not available
Standard$29$243,625Not available
Pro$49$456,350$10/month per member
Max$185$17024,650$10/month per member
EnterpriseCustomCustomHigh VolumeCustom seat limits

Yearly prices are per-month rates on an annual commitment. The Free plan needs no credit card, and its 20 one-time credits do not reset monthly. Free accounts also get no upscaling, no watermark-free export, support through Discord, and no access to credit packs.

Basic changed price in September 2026: it was $9 a month ($108 a year) with 1,100 credits and is now $19 a month ($228 a year) with 2,400 credits, while subscribers from before the change stay on $9 with 1,100 credits. The Education plan requires a valid school email address. Enterprise adds creative assistance on request, unlimited styles, private workshops and tailored pricing and billing terms. The plan table lists Enterprise credits as "High Volume", while the Enterprise page advertises unlimited credits, styles and custom seat limits.

How credits are spent

  • Resets: on monthly billing, plan credits reset on your billing date; on yearly billing they reset on the 1st of every month at 00:00 UTC, and unused plan credits do not roll over.
  • Shared balances: on plans with more than one member, credits are pooled across the organization, and plan credits are used before any credit packs.
  • Upgrades: unused credits from the previous plan do not carry over, and the upgrade cost is prorated for the remaining time in the billing cycle.
  • Copilot: replies cost credits on top of anything they generate, and because Copilot rereads the chat before every reply, the same message costs more in a long chat.
  • Price checks: the blue button in the prompt bar shows the exact price before you generate.
  • Failures: a failed generation, or one stopped before the model provider starts it, gets its credits back automatically.

Help-center cost tables can lag behind product changes; where they differ, the price shown in Studio applies, and Copilot's answers about pricing are not binding.

Credit packs

The current pack listing shows four packs, each valid for 180 days:

PackPriceCreditsValidity
Growth$252,500180 days
Pro$10011,110180 days
Plus$25029,400180 days
Ultra$50062,500180 days

Packs are non-refundable, cannot be paused, can be bought only by organization admins and require an active subscription. The pricing FAQ, however, gives pack validity as 90–180 days, so the two help pages do not fully agree.

After an admin cancels, the plan stays active until the end of the paid billing period and then moves to the Free plan; cancelling does not refund the current period.

Morphic alternatives

Morphic's own comparison pages frame its pitch around consolidation rather than a single model. These are vendor-written comparisons, not independent tests.

  • LTX Studio: against LTX Studio, Morphic presents itself as a complete AI video production platform with storyboarding, multi-model video generation and built-in timeline editing end-to-end, plus an agentic Copilot that plans the production.
  • Kling AI: against Kling AI, Morphic argues that putting storyboarding, multi-model generation and a timeline editor on one shared Canvas, with a Copilot that plans and does the job, goes beyond a single toolset.
  • Morph Studio: a separate, similarly named company founded in 2023 offers AI filmmaking with its own text-to-video model in a storyboard interface, where text prompts become shots combined into a narrative (reported February 2024).

The practical difference is scope: Morphic bundles many third-party models with storyboarding, editing and team features under one credit balance.

Limitations

Costs and refunds

  • No refunds: subscriptions, credit packs and the member addition fee are non-refundable, whether or not the credits were used, including unused subscription time and partial billing periods.
  • Paying for retries: results are not fully predictable, getting the one you want often takes a few attempts, and each attempt is a new run that uses credits.
  • Account deletion: deleting an account permanently removes it and all its data, ends any active plan straight away, and does not refund unused credits or plan time.

Commercial rights

  • Paid plans only: only paid subscription or enterprise users receive a commercial-use license, and that license stays perpetual for outputs generated during paid periods even after the plan is cancelled or downgraded.
  • License scope: the commercial license does not cover reselling outputs on a standalone basis through stock, template, dataset or asset libraries, and it does not allow using outputs to train, fine-tune or evaluate generative models.
  • No exclusivity: identical or similar outputs may be generated for and licensed to other users.
  • Clearances: before using any output commercially or publicly, you are responsible for your own diligence and any releases, clearances or permissions the use requires.

Content boundaries

  • Mature themes: Morphic generates mature content for adult audiences across video, image, voice and sound, including graphic violence, horror and strong language.
  • Adult verification: access to the mature workspace requires a verified adult account.
  • Hard limits: sexual content and nudity are refused on every plan and every model.
  • Per-model policies: individual models apply their own content policies, and video is stricter than stills for the same subject, so a request in scope for the platform can still be declined.
  • Deceptive media: the terms prohibit materially deceptive content, including synthetic impersonation and non-consensual deepfakes.
  • Age: the service is not intended for anyone under 13, and minors may use it only under the supervision and consent of a parent or guardian.

Privacy and data rights

You retain rights in the content you upload and the outputs generated for you, to the extent the law allows. Morphic will not train its proprietary foundation models on your inputs without your explicit consent. The license you grant does, however, cover training or fine-tuning private or organization-specific models for your benefit. The Enterprise page goes further, stating that data and generations are never used for training or fine-tuning Morphic's models.

Generation partly runs through third-party services, which may process, store or retain personal data under their own terms and privacy policies, including potential use for model improvement or training. Other data terms:

  • No data sales: Morphic does not sell personal data.
  • No residency commitment: Morphic does not commit to storing or processing data in any specific region or residency framework, including GDPR-specific localization, unless agreed in writing.
  • Deletion window: after you delete your account, personal data is scheduled for deletion within 90 days, except where retention is legally required.
  • Security audit: Morphic says it is audited to AICPA SOC 2 Type 1 standards.

The Terms of Use were last updated on July 7, 2026. The Privacy Policy was last updated on October 24, 2025.

FAQ

Q1. Is Morphic free to use?
