Lecturio is an online study platform for medical and nursing students that combines short video lessons, illustrated Concept Pages, board-style question banks (Qbanks) and spaced-repetition quizzes, with AI features layered on top. Its homepage presents it as "The Smart Study Tool to Master Concepts in Medicine". The service is run by Lecturio GmbH in Leipzig, Germany, under terms that cover both www.lecturio.com and www.lecturio.de.
Individual learners choose between Lecturio Medical and Lecturio Nursing, each sold in Basic and Premium tiers, while schools and hospitals can license institutional versions. The company says more than half a million learners and educators from more than 175 countries use Lecturio. It also says its team includes more than 250 physicians, among them educators from Harvard University, Johns Hopkins and University College London.
The short version: Lecturio is a supplement and exam-prep tool, not a clinical reference. Its AI Assistant draws only on Lecturio's own library, yet its answers are not checked by clinicians, and the learning-outcome figures on its site come from the company's own data, as the Limitations section explains.
Qbank access is what separates the two paid tiers. Premium unlocks the Lecturio Qbank, with thousands of NBME board-style questions you can answer on your own or with the AI Tutor, while Basic stops at the video and Concept Page libraries.
The AI Assistant answers medical or nursing questions using Lecturio's videos, Concept Pages and Qbanks as its knowledge base. Lecturio says the AI is used to extract an answer but does not add to or change the underlying content.
Memberships bought inside the Medical app were paid through Apple or Google Play, and their renewals have to be switched off in that store rather than on the website.
Lecturio Medical is built for medical students, including MD, DO, PA and MBBS students, and for nurse practitioner students. The homepage also lists tracks for students preparing for medical school, licensed practical or vocational nursing students, registered nursing students, and FNP and AGNP students, so Lecturio Nursing covers learners from practical nursing up to advanced practice.
Lecturio pricing splits each product into Basic and Premium. Basic supplements your study material with full video and Concept Page library access, while Premium is aimed at exam prep with the Qbanks. Plans start with "First 7 Days Free", and the trial button reads "Pay after 7 days, cancel anytime".

Medical plans come only in 3-, 12- and 24-month terms, each paid as one charge rather than monthly installments. Nursing plans come in 1-, 3- and 12-month terms, and the 1-month plan is the only exception to upfront payment. Memberships renew automatically at the end of each billing period unless you deactivate auto-renewal in Account Settings. Lecturio accepts Visa, Mastercard and Discover credit cards, Maestro debit cards and PayPal, and notes that not all currencies can be used with every payment method.
Premeds buy Lecturio MCAT separately. Its pricing page offers 3-, 12- and 24-month terms, and MCAT Premium adds practice exams and manually curated learning paths. The feed listed the same USD amounts for MCAT Basic and Premium as for the matching Medical plans, from $83.97 for three months of Basic to $455.76 for two years of Premium.
Lecturio's pitch is breadth in one subscription: the Premium tier bundles videos, Concept Pages, the Qbank, Learning Paths and the AI Assistant. The alternatives below each lead with a narrower strength, described in their own vendors' words.
Lecturio reports a 20-point increase in NBME CBSSA scores from an institutional case study with 198 students. It also reports 37% more correct first-attempt Qbank answers from an analysis of 21,603 users, comparing users who watched up to 12 hours of Lecturio videos before answering with users who did not. Both figures come from the company's own data; in the sources checked for this review, no independent study confirming them was found.
A third-party review profile held only 18 reviews averaging 3.7 out of 5 as captured on October 5, 2026, with 78% of them one-star. That sample is too small to support a verdict on quality.
A free account needs no credit card and gives limited access to video lessons, recall quizzes and other features. Full libraries, the Lecturio Qbank and the AI features require a paid Basic or Premium plan, which starts with a 7-day free trial.
Yes. Lecturio Nursing offers NCLEX-RN Learning Paths, a nursing Qbank with 5,050+ questions and practice exams with partial credit scoring.
No. Lecturio says AI Assistant answers are not reviewed by a medical professional and may contain minor errors, while the videos and Concept Pages they draw on are reviewed by its medical team.
Your progress and notes are saved after the membership expires, and you regain access to them when you reactivate.
No. Learning Paths and the Qbank used for USMLE Step 1 prep are part of Premium; Basic covers the video and Concept Page libraries without the Qbank.
