Anthropic's 2026 in business terms: the $65B Series H at a $965B valuation, confidential IPO filing, $47B run-rate, and enterprise adoption of Claude.
Anthropic became the most valuable AI company in Silicon Valley this year: a $30B Series G in February at a $380B valuation, then a $65B Series H in May at $965B post-money, followed by a confidential IPO filing on June 1. Run-rate revenue crossed $47B, driven overwhelmingly by enterprise adoption.
This page tracks the company: funding, enterprise traction, and strategic moves. For models and product features, see our Claude updates tracker.
| Model | Released | Position |
|---|---|---|
| Claude Fable 5 / Mythos 5 | June 9, 2026 | New Mythos-class tier above Opus; Mythos gated to approved orgs |
| Claude Sonnet 5 | June 30, 2026 | Mid-tier workhorse — agentic coding, tool use, knowledge work |
| Claude Opus 5 | July 24, 2026 | Flagship for long-running reasoning and agentic workloads |
Sonnet 5 scores 1,618 on GDPval-AA v2 knowledge work, edging Opus 4.8's 1,615 — a mid-tier model matching the previous flagship. On agentic coding it posts 63.2% on SWE-bench Pro (Sonnet 4.6: 58.1%; Opus 4.8: 69.2%) and 81.2% on OSWorld-Verified computer use.
Opus 5 shipped at $5/$25 — identical to Opus 4.8, while Sonnet 5 opened at introductory $2/$10 (reverting to $3/$15 on September 1). The flagship holds price; the workhorse absorbs the capability gain. Google runs the same play, and OpenAI joined it on July 30.
| Round | Date | Raised | Post-money |
|---|---|---|---|
| Series G | February 12, 2026 | $30B | $380B |
| Series H | May 28, 2026 | $65B | $965B |
The Series H — led by Altimeter, Dragoneer, Greenoaks and Sequoia — vaulted Anthropic past OpenAI as the highest-valued private AI company, with total funding raised to date at roughly $125B.
Days later, on June 1, 2026, Anthropic filed confidentially for an IPO at that $965B valuation — positioning what could become one of the largest public listings in tech history.
The pattern worth noting: while consumer chatbot mindshare still skews elsewhere, Anthropic built its valuation on paid production workloads — coding agents, enterprise assistants, API volume.
The Claude 5 launch cadence (June–July 2026) doubled as a business story: the new Mythos-class tier introduced gated availability — Mythos 5 is restricted to approved organizations, a first for Anthropic's flagship line and a signal of how frontier capability is increasingly sold as a managed, vetted relationship rather than an open API SKU. (Details in the product tracker.)
Enterprise platform moves: Claude Security and Agent View shipped in May, AWS availability expanded, and the MCP protocol gained enterprise-managed auth and observability — the infrastructure of an enterprise vendor, not a research lab with an API.
80% of revenue from ~300,000 business customers means Anthropic's fortunes track enterprise IT budgets rather than consumer attention. That's more stable quarter to quarter and more exposed to a procurement freeze.
A $2.5B annualized run-rate within nine months of GA, over half from enterprises. Netflix, Spotify, KPMG, L'Oréal and Salesforce are named customers. This is no longer a feature of the model business — it's a product line with its own market position.
$965B post-money against a $47B run-rate is roughly 20×. For comparison, that multiple assumes the enterprise ramp continues rather than merely persists — which is exactly what the S-1 will have to argue.
