Origin Financial (branded as Origin) combines budgeting, investing and AI planning in one platform. Account aggregation and optional financial services have different permissions and costs.
Its AI Advisor answers money questions using a connected financial picture. Its Financial Health Score and detailed actions highlight areas the company considers worth attention. These are vendor-described capabilities, not independently established savings or investment outcomes.
Investment advisory services are offered through Origin Investment Advisory LLC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Blend Financial Inc. that the company identifies as an SEC-registered investment adviser. A regulator-hosted Form ADV identifies Origin Investment Advisory LLC under CRD 305353 and SEC file number 801-120236. The advisory firm, brokerage custodian and cash-sweep banks have separate roles.
The AI budgeting tool reviews income and spending to suggest a monthly budget that includes savings and aims to keep cash flow positive. Users retain control over the transaction records behind that plan.
Connected transactions, CSV imports and manual entries can therefore support the same spending view.
Investment tracking covers connected brokerage, retirement and crypto accounts, with CSV support for stocks, ETFs, mutual funds, bonds and alternative assets. Portfolio performance can be compared with major indices such as the S&P 500, alongside views of allocation and individual positions. Tracking external holdings is distinct from opening an Origin investment account.
Custom watchlists can contain stocks, ETFs or crypto, and the investment view includes analyst ratings, earnings estimates, fundamentals and market news. Crypto tracking and watchlists do not establish support for crypto trading.
Personalized AI advice requires completion of the Origin AI Risk Profile; until then, the adviser says the AI supplies only general educational, entertainment or informational content. The questionnaire is a prerequisite for personalized advice.
AI recommendations are based on the financial situation and investment objectives supplied to Origin Investment Advisory LLC and apply only at that point in time. Advice can cease to fit when circumstances change.
Financial forecasting combines connected account data with modeling that the company says includes Monte Carlo simulations, projecting net worth, cash flow and retirement readiness. The product description says forecasts factor in taxes, inflation, investment growth and Social Security, showing possible outcomes and an estimated probability of success. These are modeled possibilities rather than a promised future balance.
Origin’s estate offering separates a Basic Will, Full Will and Trust. Generating the documents and completing the applicable legal formalities are separate parts of the process.
Forecast scenarios can include a home purchase, a career change or having a child, with milestones and assumptions that users can adjust. The use case is exploring how a specific life change affects the supplied plan.
A household forecast can include a partner’s income, savings and goals, either by inviting the partner or by manually adding their assets during the first forecast setup.
The estate document builder uses a guided questionnaire, allows work to be saved for later, and generates personalized PDF documents.
Generating and storing a file does not, by itself, complete every applicable legal formality.
Couples can add a partner without an additional charge and build an AI household budget from both partners’ spending habits.
Partner access starts with an email invitation from the Origin profile, followed by the partner accepting that invitation. Partner Access also involves an authorization to share data, described below.
Origin also serves employer-sponsored members, whose employers may pay all fees, share the cost or allow employees to buy additional services themselves. Employer benefits and direct subscriptions can differ in their costs and available services.
The broad fit is a connected financial workspace. Monthly budget resets, subscription actions and tax eligibility create narrower conditions on that fit.
Desktop access from abroad does not establish worldwide eligibility for every investment, cash, tax or add-on service.
People who previously filed through Origin retain access to past returns even if they are no longer eligible to file a new one.
Prices captured on October 29, 2026: The published standard subscription prices are $99 per year or $12.99 per month. The annual amount is billed as a yearly subscription.
| Item | Published amount | What the figure describes |
|---|---|---|
| Standard monthly subscription | $12.99 per month | Monthly billing option |
| Standard annual subscription | $99 per year | Annual billing option |
| CFP session | $119 each | Amount stated in the May 2026 company FAQ |
| Basic Will | Free with membership | Basic estate document option |
| Full Will | $199 with membership | Member price shown on the estate page |
| Trust | $399 with membership | Member price shown on the estate page |
A company FAQ published in May 2026 lists CFP sessions at $119 each, booked in the app. The dated session rate does not establish every employer benefit’s pricing.
A Full Will or Trust can also be purchased without a membership at the full price. A free Basic Will within membership does not make the subscription or the paid estate options free.
The pricing FAQ advertises a seven-day free trial, while the subscription contract makes trial availability conditional. When a free trial is offered, its length, post-trial price, billing interval and charge date are shown before it starts; it converts to a paid subscription unless canceled by the disclosed deadline. Trial availability and initial pricing depend on the disclosed offer.
Origin does not charge an annual asset-management fee, but the relationship summary says custodian administrative and trading costs apply, with a schedule disclosed at account opening. No AUM fee does not mean there is no subscription or third-party account cost.
Subscriptions renew automatically at the then-current rate unless canceled before the renewal date. The subscription terms allow cancellation through account settings or customer support, with access continuing until the current billing period ends. The separate fulfillment policy asks for cancellation through account settings or support at least 48 hours before renewal. The two policies use different cancellation deadlines.
Subscription fees are generally non-refundable, with exceptions for applicable law, specific promotions or supplemental add-on terms; partial periods do not receive refunds or credits outside those exceptions. For one-time estate products or financial-planner sessions, the fulfillment policy permits refund requests within 14 days of purchase only when the service has not been used. The fourteen-day condition concerns unused one-time services, not a general subscription refund right.
The forecasting descriptions also differ. The same FAQ describes forecasts as using a fixed annual growth rate without modeling ongoing contributions or distinguishing taxable, pre-tax and Roth accounts. The product page, by contrast, describes Monte Carlo simulations and taxes among its modeled inputs. The reviewed material does not resolve the current contribution and account-type behavior.
Homepage wording pairs finding subscriptions with canceling unwanted ones, while the more explicit FAQ denies automatic cancellation and bill negotiation.
The adviser’s brochure acknowledges that AI can produce plausible but factually incorrect or fabricated answers, particularly for complex or unusual financial scenarios. The brochure also makes the client responsible for the completeness and accuracy of financial data and for notifying the firm of material financial changes. These disclosures limit what can be inferred from connected data and the risk profile.
The reviewed material does not independently establish an advice success rate or investment outcomes.
Automated model portfolios can be managed on a discretionary basis, allowing the adviser to direct transactions without further consent; individual Stock Bundle purchases remain the client’s responsibility. Read-only external-account aggregation cannot be extended to discretionary investment management inside the platform.
Its advisory brochure explicitly says SEC registration does not imply a particular level of skill or training, and the brochure has not been approved or verified by the SEC. Registration does not guarantee the AI’s answers or investment results.
Origin and its affiliates are not banks, and its Cash Management Account is not a checking or savings account; cash is swept through DriveWealth to program banks. The company places FDIC deposit coverage at the program-bank level, subject to applicable limits, and states that the cash account APY is variable. Coverage is described through the program banks, not as insurance of Origin itself.
For investments held by DriveWealth, the site states SIPC protection of up to $500,000, including $250,000 for cash. The advisory brochure limits SIPC protection to eligible securities and cash if the custodian fails and says it does not protect against market losses. The deposit sweep and brokerage-custodian protections concern separate arrangements.
For the 2027 tax filing season, direct purchasers cannot file a new return through Origin; employer-sponsored members may qualify depending on their benefit and supported tax situation. The season-specific notice narrows earlier general descriptions of included tax filing.
Origin supplies legal forms and information, says it is not a law firm, and does not provide legal advice. The document builder is not presented here as personalized legal advice.
The privacy policy covers financial information such as salary, investments, savings and retirement accounts, assets and creditworthiness data.
For connected accounts, Origin says login credentials are not shared with it; aggregation partners generate tokens for access to authorized data. Token-based access still supplies financial data; it is separate from managed-account authority.
Enabling Partner Access authorizes sharing data with the designated partner or collaborator. The policy permits sharing with service providers and corporate affiliates, and it also describes disclosures connected with an acquisition.
The policy says Origin does not sell personal information for money but uses cookies and similar technologies for targeted advertising. Users may opt out of cookie-based targeted advertising through cookie settings, with preferences potentially needing to be reapplied after changing browsers or computers or clearing the browser cache. A statement about not selling financial data does not erase the broader privacy policy’s advertising and provider-sharing disclosures.
Personal-information deletion can be requested, but information may be retained for legal obligations, disputes, agreements or other business purposes, and identity verification may be required. Account-related information is not typically kept longer than one month after account termination, but fraud, investigations, legal requirements and the adviser’s recordkeeping rules can require longer retention. Account termination does not imply immediate deletion of every record.
The terms say communications, including planner meetings, are recorded for regulatory and training purposes. The reviewed terms and privacy policy do not specify whether customer financial data is used to train external foundation models. The recordings disclosure is not a no-training promise.
The terms describe the site as hosted in the United States and say access from other regions transfers data there for processing.
The Basic Will assigns assets generally and does not let users distribute particular assets to different beneficiaries.
The policy describes an educational VantageScore 3.0 credit score supplied by Equifax that can differ from lender scores, with credit data retained for up to five years. This is a feature-specific retention period, separate from general account information.
The May 2026 company FAQ says sessions remain active by default rather than timing out automatically. This dated vendor statement is not an independent security assessment.
