Studydrive is a study notes platform where university students upload, read and discuss lecture notes, summaries, past exams and flashcards, organised by university and course. Around that document library it adds community groups, a Credits reward system, a job board and paid AI tools. The service positions itself around access to study documents like lecture notes or exam questions shared by top students from your courses.
The company started in Germany. Studydrive was founded in Cologne in 2013 by Philipp Mackeprang and Sven Gasper and later moved its base to Berlin. In January 2019, the online job portal Stepstone took over the platform. Today meinestadt.de GmbH, based in Cologne, operates the website and apps, and meinestadt.de GmbH is part of the StepStone Group of companies.
Studydrive describes itself as Europe's largest student community with over 3 million students. That is a company figure. A separate legal disclosure exists: the imprint publishes a user number under Article 24(2) of the EU Digital Services Act, listed as 193.209 in German number formatting, without explaining how it relates to the marketing figure.

Credits are also awarded for the first flashcard set and each time someone studies with your flashcards. Uploaders still collect downloads from free readers: if someone views a document for longer than 30 seconds, it counts as a download for the uploader, whether or not that reader has Premium. Collected Credits can be redeemed for rewards in the Rewards Store or used to pay for Premium.
The job exchange sends notifications about internships and entry-level positions based on profile details such as place of study and subject, and it lets users search positions and companies directly. Filtering jobs by posting date is not offered on the platform.
Studydrive fits best where its community is densest. Its homepage highlights universities such as RWTH Aachen, Universität Augsburg, Wirtschaftsuniversität Wien and Maastricht University. A 2019 report on the acquisition put the user base at more than 700k students from 100 universities in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

The German Google Play listing showed 2.5 stars from 2.18K reviews, a USK rating of 12+, more than 1M downloads, and labels for ads and in-app purchases. The two stores measure different user groups, so the scores should not be averaged.
Studydrive's terms state that the use of the platform is free of charge. All documents can be viewed and studied online without a subscription, but downloading them requires Studydrive Premium. Premium also removes ads, unlocks anonymous uploads and posting, and adds the AI summaries and AI flashcards.

The Premium FAQ was last updated on August 6, 2025. For the 6- and 12-month plans the price stays the same after the minimum term ends, although the subscription can then be cancelled monthly. The Credits prices are presented as a special early contributor offer with a 50% discount on Premium when paid with Credits.
The web FAQ says Studydrive does not currently offer a free trial period and suggests the one-month Exam Pass as a test. The German App Store listing tells a different story: as captured on September 28, 2026, it listed in-app items named "Premium Abo" at 11,99 €, 35,99 € and 54,99 €, plus items named "Premium Abo mit Trial" at the same three prices. The store page does not show the term behind each price, and the two sources are not reconciled anywhere in the pages reviewed.
