Prep Education (branded Prep Edu on its own pages) is an AI-powered language learning, teaching and testing platform for exam candidates, available on the web and in mobile apps. Its core is IELTS preparation: timed virtual exam rooms where AI scores Speaking and Writing answers, a practice lab with graded plans, and full video courses on the top tier.
The website and its transaction terms are operated by PREP PTE. LTD., a Singapore company registered under UEN 202227322W. The company lists seven products across five markets: Prep IELTS, Prep TOEIC, Prep HSK, Prep VSTEP, PrepTalk, Prep IELTS Junior and an Exam Platform. On the international English site, only the IELTS offer is fully live (see Limitations).
Prep Education is a venture-backed company. Trade coverage reported a US$7 million Series A round jointly led by Northstar Ventures and Cercano Management Asia. The company also says it received the "Joint Highest Growth in East Asia 2026" award at the British Council's IELTS Global Partner Gathering in London in March 2026; that recognition is self-reported on its news page.
Every Prep Education feature feeds one loop: practise under exam conditions, get an AI score with criterion-level feedback, then review mistakes before the next attempt.
It is the main tool for IELTS speaking practice without a partner or tutor.
The Practice Lab bundles full tests for all four skills with 100+ exam papers and returns an AI band estimate in about 30 seconds. The company says its AI IELTS scoring is calibrated on 18M+ real answers and validated by a former IELTS examiner and a 9.0-band team. It also reports a Quadratic Weighted Kappa of 0.90 for its scoring technology, against 0.91 for certified human examiners and 0.72 for general-purpose tools such as ChatGPT. These are company-reported figures; the announcement does not publish the test set behind them.
Teacher Bee AI is an in-app tutor that the company describes as providing 24/7 support, guiding learners through lessons and difficult tasks.
PrepTalk English is built around role-play. You choose your own conversation scenario and practise shadowing or two-way role-play with AI inside the Prep AI Virtual Practice Room, with syllable-level pronunciation feedback after each lesson.

The IELTS Practice Lab is sold in three tiers: Free, Core and Premium. The pricing page loads its prices dynamically; the figures below are the site's price-feed listings labelled International, in USD, as captured on September 28, 2026.

Core covers unlimited Reading and Listening plus mock tests and caps AI marking at 8 Speaking and 8 Writing tests a month; Premium removes that cap. Core credits reset every month and don't roll over, and the pricing FAQ states that neither plan auto-renews. In the plan comparison feed, the Personalized Study Plan is marked as included only in Premium, and the Full IELTS Video Course is listed as lifetime access on the annual Premium term.
The Vietnam App Store listing sells separately named packages in Vietnamese dong. As captured on September 28, 2026, they included a 90-day IELTS test-practice pack at 2,000,000 VND, IELTS Pro for 3 months at 599,000 VND and for 6 months at 999,000 VND, a 90-day TOEIC pack at 1,500,000 VND and an HSK 1–3 bundle at 4,000,000 VND. These names do not map one to one onto Free, Core and Premium, and the TOEIC and HSK packages are sold there even though the English site marks those courses Coming Soon.
Refunds are narrow. The transaction terms state that ending a service before the subscription period ends does not warrant refunds; the only refund route documented is the score guarantee below.
The written guarantee applies to students who enrol from 01/04/2026 to 31/12/2026. It covers only buyers of the Premium plan for at least 12 months; Free, Core and shorter Premium terms are excluded. Its conditions:
If all obligations are met and the result is below Overall 6.5, Prep refunds 50% of the net amount actually paid for the 12-month Premium term. Each person can receive this refund only once in a lifetime, checked against the identity used for the official test.
The plan comparison feed summarises the same benefit differently, as "Hit your target band or your money back", while the policy page ties the payout to the fixed Overall 6.5 threshold and the partial refund described above. The two descriptions are not the same promise.
On a third-party review platform, Prep Education's profile shows ELSA Speak and Duolingo under "People also looked at". Both are broader language apps rather than IELTS-specific scoring tools:
