What is Skillsoft Percipio?

Skillsoft Percipio is an enterprise skills management platform: it maps job roles to skills, delivers licensed content against them, and reports proficiency back to administrators. The address percipio.com is the product's entry point and resolves to its product page, where the pitch is one unified platform to identify, build, and deploy skills, powering enterprise learning, upskilling, and measurable outcomes.

The operator's annual regulatory filing puts the same shape in testable terms: Percipio carries a portfolio of more than 431,000 learning assets across leadership and business, technology, and compliance subject areas, and supports 52 localized language variants. Vendor pages count that library on different bases — the product FAQ offers 200,000+ Skillsoft assets to blend into an organization's own material, and the mobile store listing cites more than 180,000+ titles. The filing also records that the platform can function as a standalone learning management system or integrate with existing enterprise infrastructure while maintaining centralized skills visibility.

The unit of record is a skill, not a completion, and AI runs through search, recommendations, practice and authoring as distinct features, each with its own switch. It sells as self-service Individual and Teams plans plus a quoted Enterprise contract.

Core features

Skills intelligence and benchmarking

Role definitions, skill taxonomies and job architectures live in the platform, and skills data is refreshed from learning activity, assessments and certifications. Skill Benchmark assessments score a learner against a defined standard and then drive personalised recommendations. The vendor frames the payoff as being able to gain a real-time view of workforce capability so leaders know where skills stand today and where to focus next.

AI practice with CAISY

CAISY is the conversational simulator. It uses AI-driven simulations to help people practice skills, apply judgement, and prepare for real scenarios before the work is on the line, covering coaching, conflict resolution, negotiation and customer complaints. In Practice mode the exchange is scored from Novice at 0–9 points to Advanced at 90–100 points, weighted 70% toward the scenario objective; Role model and Guiding modes produce no score, and a learner can complete up to 50 simulations in a day.

Authoring and coaching

LX Design Studio is the authoring side of the same architecture and uses AI to create custom courses, simulations, and assessments in minutes. The vendor also states that Skillsoft AI Coach is the only ICF-aligned coach built into an enterprise skills platform, a claim published without independent assessment.

Curated paths and your own content

Pre-built paths are branded Aspire Journeys, which walk learners, step-by-step, through diverse skills across business and tech, offering courses, guidance, tools, and hands-on practice, and both Journeys and Channels can be edited to mix licensed, internal and third-party material. The platform can also host the custom content you create (e.g., SCORM, AICC, or any file format) with 200GB free storage.

Reporting for programme owners

Reporting arrives as named dashboards — Skills Activity, Skills Discovery, Overview, Activity, Assignments and Program Value, the last turning learning hours into an estimated value.

Guide

Each step maps to a setting that exists in the product, not to generic rollout advice.

  1. Wire up identity before users. SAML-based SSO with the Skillsoft Platform works with most common identity providers including Microsoft Active Directory Federation Services (ADFS), Microsoft Azure, and Okta. Enable auto-provisioning so accounts appear on first federated login and stop working when the directory entry is invalidated.
  2. Automate the user population. Without an identity provider, or alongside one, accounts are maintained by bulk import or REST API, and documented options include fully automated integration with HRIS or corporate directories using either APIs or SFTP.
  3. Set entitlements and language. Learners see only languages the organization is entitled to, and availability for translated captions, the simulator, the AI Assistant and the authoring studio is tracked separately per language.
  4. Upload your own material. SCORM and AICC hosting is built in: packages are accepted as SCORM 1.1, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 (1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th editions) and AICC. Each uploaded file cannot exceed 2 GB, and both single-SCO and multi-SCO packages are supported.
  5. Set the AI posture deliberately. Every AI feature has a path under Site Settings > Site Configuration > AI Settings and the defaults are permissive, so switch off what you do not want first.

Use cases and examples

  • Regulatory and safety training, since compliance is one of the three subject areas named in the regulatory filing and certification recurrence and audit-ready reporting are first-class objects.
  • Difficult-conversation rehearsal, since the simulator's scope is workplace conversation practice and its daily ceiling suits a whole manager cohort.
  • Onboarding built from internal material, since 200 GB of hosting for standards-based packages and single files comes with the platform, so an induction path can mix internal policy documents with licensed leadership content.

The weakest fit is short, single-topic learning for one person: there is no per-course purchase, so the smallest unit of access is a subscription.

Who is it for

  • Enterprise L&D and HR teams above 300 seats. The published answer is explicit that Enterprise includes everything in the Team and Individual plans, plus the ability to add and create your own content, expanded user and content management, customizable learning paths, and robust analytics, and that it integrates with your LMS, LXP, and talent systems.
  • Compliance and risk owners, who get recurring assignments, certification tracking and centralised cross-region reporting.
  • Small teams wanting administration without procurement, since a Teams subscription adds assignments, user management and progress tracking for a card payment.

It suits no one who needs a single course, no team wanting administrative tooling on the cheapest plan, and no population reaching content solely through a third-party LMS.

Platforms

  • Web. Tested browsers are Edge, Firefox, Chrome and Safari on Windows 10/11 and macOS 10.15.4 or later. For all browsers listed, the Skillsoft Platform web and mobile supports the current version, plus one version back, and for all browsers, the minimum supported screen resolution is 1024x768.
  • Bandwidth and sessions. Video is adaptive: our 1080p streams require an average bit rate of 1,450 kb/s while our lowest quality streams work on as little as 112kb/s. The web session times out after a maximum of 90 days, and duration tracking stops after 30 minutes on a page until the user moves again.
  • Mobile. The Percipio mobile app covers phone and tablet, syncs progress across devices and adds offline downloads, weekly goals, streaks and voice search. The iOS listing is a free download rated 12+ that requires iOS 15.6 or later.
  • Android store signals. The Android listing shows 4.5 stars from 29.8K reviews with 1M+ downloads, and its data-safety panel states that Data is encrypted in transit while also stating that Data can't be deleted. Both describe the mobile app, not the administrative platform.
  • Integrations. Prebuilt LMS and LXP connectors, HRIS synchronisation over API or SFTP and an xAPI path are documented: Percipio functions as a Learning Record Provider that sends statements to a customer-operated Learning Record Store.
  • APIs. The REST APIs use bearer tokens and are documented with OpenAPI, with separate United States and European endpoints. Skillsoft Platform API calls are rate-limited to 25 requests / 15 seconds per unique service account.

Pricing

Percipio pricing is published for the two smaller plans and quoted for the largest. The table records what each card showed at the time of checking, in the billing state actually selected.

PlanSeatsListed priceFree trialBilling note
IndividualSingle seat$25/mo per seatTry 45 days for freeMonthly billing selected
IndividualSingle seat$269/yr per seatTry 45 days for freeAnnual billing selected
TeamsUp to 300 seats$20/mo per seatTry 30 days for freeBilled annually
EnterpriseOver 300 seatsCustomNot offeredPriced to your scale, demo required

The two Individual rows are the two states of one monthly/annual switch on a single card, not two products, and both are the US-dollar figures: the plan endpoint behind the card also carries Australian dollar, Canadian dollar and euro prices. The Teams card carries no switch; the Enterprise card offers a demo request instead of a price.

For individual subscriptions, users can choose between Business Skills, Codecademy, or a bundle of both. A Team subscription includes Skillsoft's full library of six premium catalogs: Business, Leadership Development, Technology, Software Development (powered by Codecademy), Ethics & Legal, and Health & Safety. Administration is gated the same way: single sign-on, assignments, audience management, branding and reporting are premium, while content upload and LMS or LXP integration are Enterprise-only.

Cancellation terms are specific: you can cancel your yearly subscription at any time, the subscription stays active until the end of the current term, the card will not be charged again, and if you cancel before your free trial ends, your card is never charged. There is no à-la-carte route: we don't sell individual courses, but you can start a subscription to reach the course you want and cancel at any time.

Alternatives and how it compares

The operator's own regulatory filing describes the competitive set: the markets for digital learning, enterprise learning platforms, and skills and workforce intelligence solutions are competitive and continue to evolve as organizations adopt skills-based workforce strategies and AI-enabled operating models. A shortlist therefore mixes three shapes: large content libraries sold on learner access, learning platforms embedded in human capital suites, and specialist skills-intelligence vendors.

A more useful comparison is a different deployment of the same product: because prebuilt LMS and LXP connectors, SAML SSO, HRIS synchronisation and an xAPI feed to a customer-operated Learning Record Store are documented, Percipio can be adopted as a skills layer behind an incumbent platform rather than replacing it, leaving existing completion history where it is.

Limitations

  • Downloads cannot be locked down. Uploaded single files other than PDFs go straight to the learner's machine when opened: at this point in time, you cannot prevent any file type from being downloaded.
  • Right-to-left support is incomplete. The language notes state that the Skillsoft Platform in Arabic is not 100% responsive when users resize browser windows, and that the Course app in LX Design Studio does not fully support right to left languages yet.
  • Chat-client access depends on the entry point. Customers whose users only access Skillsoft Platform content through your LMS will not be able to take advantage of the Skillsoft Percipio app for Microsoft Teams at this time.
  • A cancelled Teams subscription is one-way. Once a Team subscription is cancelled, customers will not be able to restart that subscription type, and the site is eventually shut down — export reports and certificates first.
  • Subscriptions are non-refundable. The individual and team licence agreement states that subscriptions to Skillsoft Product(s) are non-refundable; cancelling just ends access at the close of the billing cycle.
  • There is a fixed weekly outage. The Percipio weekly maintenance window is 13:00 to 15:00 ET Sunday, during which a maintenance page is erected and the site is inaccessible to customers.
  • The licence text and the sales page disagree. The plan page sells Teams for teams up to 300 people, while the individual and team licence agreement says the product is provided for individualized personal or up to maximum of 50-person Team use only and licenses use within the United States for personal training purposes only. Which text governs is not stated.
  • AI output carries the vendor's own caveat. The regulatory filing records that we have and continue to build AI into many of our products and service offerings. AI presents new risks and challenges that could affect its use or application, and therefore our business, naming biased training data and harmful generated content among them.

Privacy and data rights

Percipio only requires supplying a unique identifier per learner by the customer in order to operate, so a cautious buyer can keep personal data out of it; by default an email address is required and names are optional. CAISY does not store user IP addresses, nor does it collect location data, or any personal information (PII) from the learner unless the learner inputs it as part of their conversations, and no data from CAISY is distributed to third parties or is available to train any models.

The asymmetry is in the defaults: collection of the learner's side of a simulated conversation is on by default for companies using the US data center and off by default for companies using the EU data center. Learners can switch it off and administrators can disable each AI feature outright. Rights also depend on who bought the licence, because the individual-subscriber privacy notice does not apply to Team, Enterprise or business-to-business users, who are directed to their employer.

The published security overview records SOC 2 Type 1 certification in December 2023, SOC 2 Type 2 in April 2024 and ISO/IEC 27001:2022 in July 2025. Accessibility is measured against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) standards issued by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C).

FAQ

Q1. Can an individual subscribe without going through a company?

Yes. It is bought online with a card at a published per-seat price and a 45-day free trial, but content is limited to business skills, the coding catalogue or a bundle of both, and single sign-on, assignments and reporting are excluded.

Q2. How much does it cost?

The Individual card showed $25/mo per seat with monthly billing selected and $269/yr per seat with annual billing selected. Teams showed $20/mo per seat billed annually for up to 300 seats; Enterprise is quoted.

Q3. Does it accept SCORM content from other authoring tools?

Yes — SCORM 1.1, SCORM 1.2, SCORM 2004 (1st–4th editions) and AICC, with a 2 GB ceiling per file and 200 GB of hosting. Uploading your own content is Enterprise-only.

Q4. Does it replace our LMS?

Only if you want it to. Prebuilt connectors, SAML single sign-on and an xAPI feed to your own Learning Record Store are documented, so it can run behind an incumbent system.

Q5. Is conversation data from the AI simulator used to train models?

The documentation states that no data is distributed to third parties or available to train any models, and that the simulator collects no personal information unless a learner types it in. Whether the learner's side is kept depends on a setting whose default differs by region.
