What is OpenMusic AI?

OpenMusic AI (the site also writes it as OpenMusic.ai) is a browser-based AI music generator that turns a text prompt or your own lyrics into a finished song, then surrounds that generator with lyric writing, AI song covers, vocal and stem separation, AI mastering, MIDI conversion and simple music-video makers. The company positions the service as "the free all-in-one AI music generator" for creating full songs and lyrics from text.

The legal documents do not use one company name. The commercial license agreement names the licensor as OpenMusic AI, Inc., while the Terms of Service say site content, logos and trademarks belong to OpenMusic Inc. The About page says the company was founded by a musician who built an audience on YouTube and Spotify, but it does not name that founder.

The rendered generator shows a model selector set to V2.5, and the company describes the engine only as advanced generative models trained on thousands of musical styles. The visible page text does not identify who developed the model behind that label.

The "Open" in the name is not explained as open source: none of the pages reviewed describe the software or its models as open-source code. The product is also unrelated to OpenMusic, the object-oriented visual programming environment for music composition that shares its name.

For scale, a third-party traffic estimate put the site at roughly 1.0 million monthly visits for May–August 2026, as captured on September 26, 2026.

The biggest decision point is licensing: marketing pages, the pricing FAQ and the license agreement describe commercial rights in three different ways.

Core features

Song and lyric generation

  • Prompt or lyrics input: the generator offers Prompt and Own Lyrics modes, an Instrumental Only switch, clickable genre and mood tags, and a setting for the number of songs to generate per run.
  • Track length and speed: the company says you can create original tracks up to 8 minutes long in any genre or mood, and that generation takes less than a minute.
  • Sung vocals: when you supply lyrics, you can choose male or female voices to sing them.
  • AI lyrics generator: a separate lyric tool takes an optional title and a prompt, with extra settings for mood, structure, style and language.

Covers and voice models

  • AI song covers: you upload a track or pick one from your workspace, choose a voice model from categories labelled Singers, Celebrity, Animation, Game and My Voice, and adjust vocal volume, instrumental volume and reverb.
  • Custom voice training: the voice-cloning screen asks for 10–30 minutes of clean vocal-only audio and states a minimum of 1 minute, a maximum of 30 minutes and a recommended 10 minutes.

Vocal removal and stem splitting

The AI stem splitter offers three separation modes. A 4-stem split produces vocals, drums, bass and others; a 6-stem split adds guitar and piano; and an "All Detected Stems" mode returns up to 12 instrument and vocal stems, but that mode is labelled "AI Songs Only". A separate AI vocal remover focuses on pulling vocals away from the backing track.

Mastering, MIDI and utilities

  • AI mastering: you upload a target track and can add a reference track; the company says the tool enhances clarity, balance and loudness.
  • Audio to MIDI: audio in WAV, MP3, FLAC or OGG, or a recording of your own voice, can be converted into a MIDI file.
  • Browser utilities: the site footer links a metronome, tuner, guitar tuner, vocal range test, reverb calculator, random key generator, frequency generator, audio equalizer and spectrum analyzer, plus MIDI-to-MP3 and MP4-to-MIDI converters.

Music video tools

The AI Music Video page offers a Music Visualizer and a Photo Video maker. Two further formats, Story Music Video (scenes built from your lyrics) and Singing Video (a virtual performer), were marked "Coming Soon" as captured on September 26, 2026.

Guide

Generating a song

  1. Open the AI Music Generator and describe the track you want: the genre, the mood, or a few lyric lines. The company notes that more detail helps the AI match your style.
  2. Switch to Own Lyrics or Instrumental Only if needed, then pick tags and the number of songs.
  3. Generate. The AI song generator turns the idea into a full track with melody, rhythm and instruments that fit the description, and each song costs 2 credits.
  4. Preview the result, make small edits if needed, and download it.

Downloads and file formats

The song library's batch-download menu lists MP3 Audio, WAV Audio and FLAC Audio. Paid plans include downloads, and the pricing FAQ adds that songs created on the free plan become downloadable after an upgrade. Accounts without a membership see an "Unlock Download" prompt offering to spend credits on that single download or to upgrade for unlimited downloads.

OpenMusic AI use cases

The license and product pages point to a handful of concrete uses rather than one core audience.

  • Background music for media: the commercial license explicitly lists use of licensed music in videos, social media posts, advertisements, podcasts, broadcasts, films, games, apps and branded content.
  • Remixes, acapellas and karaoke: the vocal remover and stem splitter are pitched for making clean acapellas for remixes, pulling instrumentals for karaoke, or isolating parts of a track to sample.
  • A video for a finished single: the music-video page speaks to independent musicians who have finished a song but have no budget for a video shoot.

Who is it for

OpenMusic AI is aimed at people who want finished songs quickly without a studio. The About page names bedroom producers, content creators and professional artists as the intended users.

Good fit

  • Creators without production skills: the company says you do not need music theory or production software; you describe an idea or paste lyrics and the AI handles the rest.
  • Brands and organizations with in-house content: the license lets organizational users use licensed music for internal and external business purposes, including brand channels, promotional videos, ads, presentations and event materials.

Weaker fit

  • Monthly subscribers who need commercial rights: the pricing FAQ says monthly plans do not include commercial rights.
  • Anyone who needs exclusive ownership or Content ID registration: the license forbids claiming exclusive ownership beyond the rights granted and forbids registering licensed music in Content ID or similar systems in a way that interferes with other users' lawful use of similar outputs.

Platforms

  • Web app: OpenMusic AI runs in the browser. The sign-in page offers Google, Apple and email login, and says new users get free credits on login.
  • Interface languages: the language switcher lists English, Japanese, Korean, German, Spanish, French, Portuguese, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese and Vietnamese.
  • Upload formats: the audio tools accept MP3, WAV, OGG, M4A, AAC, FLAC and WMA uploads; the audio-to-MIDI tool lists .wav, .mp3, .flac and .ogg.
  • Mobile apps: the pages reviewed link to no App Store or Google Play app; the product is presented as a website.
  • Payments: the Terms say payments are processed through providers such as Stripe or PayPal and that the company does not store full payment information.
  • Support: the Terms list email support with business hours of Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM (UTC).

Pricing

OpenMusic AI sells subscriptions that come with credits, the platform's internal currency. Generating a song costs 2 credits, and other tools show their own credit cost on the generate button. The pricing page opens on the yearly toggle; the monthly prices below come from plan data embedded in the same page, which does not display the monthly credit allowance.

PlanYearly billing (shown)Monthly billingYearly credits and songsDownloads
FreeNo chargeNot applicable30 credits / 15 music generations per yearNot included
Starter$10.49/month, $125.92 billed yearly$14.99/month2,400 credits / 1,200 generations1000 download times

Professional$34.99/month, $419.92 billed yearly$49.99/month14,400 credits / 7,200 generationsUnlimited
Studio$90.99/month, $1091.92 billed yearly$129.99/month40,800 credits / 20,400 generationsUnlimited

The yearly toggle is labelled "30% Off". The Free card lists a Basic AI Music Generator and shows music video, commercial license, music download and email support struck through.

Credits do not carry over. Unused credits are cleared on the renewal date, and credits refresh on the same date each month, for example on February 1 and March 1 for a January 1 subscription.

Commercial rights follow the billing period, not the tier. The pricing FAQ says commercial rights are included with any annual plan and not with monthly plans, and that this applies retroactively: songs made on the free plan can have their commercial license PDF downloaded after upgrading to an annual plan.

The site gives two answers on buying extra credits. The pricing FAQ says you cannot currently buy extra credits without upgrading, yet the pricing page also has a "Pay Once" toggle whose embedded text offers credit packs and states that credit packs are non-refundable, non-transferable, non-exchangeable for membership and non-withdrawable.

Subscriptions renew automatically, monthly or annually. According to the Terms, you can cancel at any time from the account dashboard, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing cycle.

Refund rules

Three official pages describe refunds differently:

  • Pricing FAQ: a full refund is available if you have used fewer than 20 credits and it is within 3 days of purchase.
  • Refund Policy: requests must be made within 3 days; anyone who has used more than 20 credits is not eligible; and an approved refund may carry a processing fee of up to 6% of the initial payment.
  • Terms of Service: refunds are typically not provided once access is granted, with possible exceptions for technical failure or duplicate billing, and refund inquiries go to support within 7 days of purchase.

OpenMusic AI alternatives

Two alternatives with clearly published licensing rules make useful comparison points.

AlternativeHow commercial use is handledNotable plan detail
SunoFree plan has no commercial rights; Pro and Premier include commercial use rightsPro lists 20 song downloads per month; the free plan has no monthly song downloads
MubertCreator plan is labelled Non-Commercial; Pro is labelled Commercial UsageCreator and Pro list 500 tracks per month and tracks up to 25 min

Suno ties commercial use to its paid tiers rather than to the billing period, whereas OpenMusic AI's pricing FAQ ties it to annual billing. Mubert separates non-commercial and commercial use by plan name. OpenMusic AI's difference is breadth: covers, stem splitting, mastering, MIDI and video tools sit in the same account and credit balance.

Limitations

Rights statements that do not match

  • Marketing pages: the home page says every generated track is designed for commercial use, fully licensed and ready for YouTube, Spotify, TikTok and any platform.
  • Terms of Service: you own the rights to the output you generate, while OpenMusic retains rights to its algorithms, models and platform infrastructure.
  • Pricing FAQ: commercial rights come only with annual plans.
  • License agreement: OpenMusic AI grants a non-exclusive, worldwide, perpetual, non-transferable license for each specific song for which a Commercial License has been purchased, and generated music without such a purchase is not licensed for commercial use under that agreement.

The account's credit log also lists entries named "Unlock Song Download" and "Unlock Song Commercial Rights".

Copyright and platform enforcement

The license states that OpenMusic AI does not guarantee that any licensed music is eligible for copyright protection in any jurisdiction, or that it will be free from third-party claims, takedowns, content-matching issues or Content ID actions on platforms such as YouTube. It also does not warrant that a track will be unique or that it will not resemble other AI-generated or human-created works. The company's total liability under the license is capped at what you paid for the relevant Commercial License(s) in the 12 months before the claim.

Voice imitation

The celebrity voice page tells users to provide 30–60 seconds of clear audio from a target voice or a celebrity vocal sample and says the resulting covers are "yours to use, share, and monetize." The license, however, forbids intentionally imitating a specific copyrighted song, recording, composition or distinctive artist identity in a way that may infringe third-party rights, and makes users responsible for publicity and other third-party rights. The celebrity page's 30–60 second sample length also differs from the voice-training screen's 1-minute minimum.

Age rules

The Terms require users to be at least 18 years old (or the age of majority), while the Privacy Policy says the service is not intended for users under 13.

Privacy and data use

  • What is collected: account and billing details, plus IP address, browser and device information, pages visited, music generation prompts and usage analytics.
  • How it is used: to deliver, operate and improve the AI music generation services, provide support, send updates and promotions, process payments and prevent fraud. The Privacy Policy does not say whether prompts or uploaded audio are used to train models.
  • Sharing: the company says it does not sell, rent or trade personal information, and names payment processors, analytics such as Google Analytics, and cloud hosting as third-party services.
  • Deletion and rights: data tied to a deleted account is removed or anonymized within 30 days, and access, correction, deletion, portability and objection requests are answered within 30 days.

Independent coverage

In the IT-media, review-platform and community channels checked through September 26, 2026, no independent in-depth review of OpenMusic AI was found, and the consumer review samples located were too small to support a quality conclusion.
