What is Kickresume?

Kickresume is an online resume and cover letter builder that runs in the browser and in mobile apps, combining recruiter-designed templates with AI writing tools. The website, web app and mobile app are operated by Kickresume s.r.o. The company describes itself as a small team based in Bratislava, Slovakia.

The homepage pitches it as an AI resume builder for a resume that is professional, ATS-friendly and tailored to every job description, and says it is free to try. Kickresume also presents itself as a full AI-powered career toolkit that covers cover letters, ATS checks, interview preparation and career planning, not only resume layout. The claim that it is trusted by 8+ million job seekers is the company's own figure.

Three facts shape most decisions:

  • The Free plan includes unlimited downloads but only basic templates, and AI tools run on usage limits.
  • Paid plans are auto-renewing subscriptions, and the refund wording on the pricing cards and in the Terms differs.
  • AI features send your data to outside AI providers, and the privacy policy allows training on anonymised user documents.

Core features

Templates and writing aids

  • Template library: Premium unlocks customization of the 4 free resume templates plus 40 premium templates, which Kickresume says are ATS-friendly and designed by recruiters and typographers.
  • Design variations: every template comes with alternate color schemes, fonts and formatting options, which the company counts as one million possible design combinations.
  • Pre-written phrases: the builder offers more than 20,000 pre-written phrases for more than 3,200 jobs, inserted through an "Add Phrases" button.

AI writing tools

  • AI Resume Writer: the product page says it can create a CV for any job position in seconds, adding keywords, tailoring the text to the role and formatting it for applicant tracking systems.
  • AI cover letter writer: you enter your most recent job title and press "Use AI Writer" to generate a cover letter; pressing the button again produces another version.
  • Resume tailoring: you paste a job description and the tool rewrites your resume to match it, which Kickresume says uses only what is already in your CV.
  • Resume translation: the translation page lists English (US), English (UK), Spanish, Portuguese, French, German, Czech and Slovak, with more languages described as coming soon.

Kickresume's own pages name different models behind these tools. The AI Resume Writer page describes a fine-tuned GPT-4.1 model. An FAQ answer on the homepage says the AI Resume Builder is based on OpenAI's GPT-3. The translation page says translations are powered by GPT-4. The Google Play listing mentions a fine-tuned GPT-5 model. The pages checked for this review do not reconcile these versions.

ATS resume checker

The ATS resume checker runs more than 20 checks covering formatting, design issues, typefaces, structure and resume content. It returns a report with your score and every issue found, and it compares your resume with successful resumes contributed by people who got hired through Kickresume. The FAQ calls a score of 75% and up generally good; that threshold is Kickresume's own guidance.

Beyond the resume

  • Personal website: a resume can be turned into a personal website in one click. Kickresume offers 1 free and 6 premium website templates for it.
  • Career Map: the tool scans your resume and recommends career paths based on your skills and experience.

Guide

Create a resume from LinkedIn

  1. Open your LinkedIn profile and copy its public URL.
  2. Paste the link into the field on Kickresume's LinkedIn import page and press "Convert to Resume".
  3. Sign up, for example with a Google or Facebook account.
  4. Kickresume imports the profile and converts it into a complete resume in a random template, which you can then restyle and edit.

Tailor a resume to a job ad

  1. Upload an existing resume or create a new one, then choose Resume Tailoring.
  2. Select your job title, fill in the company name and paste the job ad.
  3. Click "Tailor Now" and the CV is rewritten to match the job.

Generate work-experience bullet points

In the Work Experience section, enter a job title and click "Use AI Writer" to receive a set of bullet points. If a section still feels short, clicking the button again adds more phrases, and bullets you dislike can be edited or deleted.

Use cases and examples

  • Students and new graduates: students and teachers who verify their status with ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS can get up to 180 days of Premium access for free. When that period ends, the account switches to the Free plan and keeps existing resumes and data.
  • Applying in another language: translation runs inside the editor, and Kickresume says only the content is translated while the layout and formatting stay intact.
  • Sending a link instead of a file: the resume website feature gives you a page you can share with a potential employer as a link.
  • Running many applications at once: Kickresume offers a job application tracker that keeps every role, status and next step in one place.

Who is it for

  • Job seekers who want a polished layout fast: an AI-generated summary of 695 recent reviews on a third-party review platform says customers frequently praise the intuitive interface and find that building customized resumes and cover letters takes only minutes. The same platform showed a 4.6 rating from 3,881 reviews as captured on October 2, 2026, on a profile the company has claimed and pays a subscription for.
  • People starting from a blank page: a third-party hands-on roundup, which discloses that it may earn affiliate commissions, names Kickresume its pick for generating a resume from scratch.
  • Less suited to heavily graphic resumes for screened roles: Kickresume's own ATS FAQ says resumes with bold graphic elements, photos or two-column layouts are hard for an ATS to read, so creative designs trade off against screening.
  • Less suited to users who cannot accept overseas AI processing: the AI tools pass resume data to external AI providers, mainly in the USA, as detailed under Limitations.

Platforms

  • Web and mobile: all premium subscribers get Premium on the Kickresume mobile app and can reach their resumes and cover letters from any device.
  • Subscription scope: web subscriptions (monthly, quarterly and annual) include the mobile subscription for the same period, but an annual Mobile App subscription does not include Web App Premium.
  • Google Play listing: 4.4 stars from 2.55K reviews and 100K+ downloads, as captured on October 2, 2026.
  • Site languages: the interface can be switched to English, German, Spanish, Slovak, Portuguese or Italian from the site footer.
  • File formats: Kickresume's FAQ names PDF and TXT downloads. A third-party hands-on roundup listed as a con that some styling elements were not rendered when exporting as .doc.
  • Connectivity: the Terms state that an internet connection is required to use and manage a subscription.

Pricing

Kickresume pricing as listed on the pricing page on October 2, 2026:

All three paid cards list the same core features: 40+ resume and cover letter templates, all colors and typefaces, AI Writer, ATS Resume Checker, Career Map, LinkedIn and PDF import, the iOS and Android apps, 7 personal website templates and priority email and chat support. The vouchers give one month of free Premium to up to 5 friends on the yearly plan or 3 friends on the quarterly plan.

AI usage by plan

  • The AI Resume Writer FAQ says a free account gets a limited number of uses and every premium subscription, "starting at $7/month", includes a substantially higher number of AI requests. The lowest price on the pricing page is $8 per month.
  • The AI cover letter writer lets you create your first cover letter with AI for free; more require Premium, quoted there as "as little as 7 USD (7 EUR) per month".
  • Resume tailoring includes one free use, and Premium adds unlimited tailoring tokens.
  • The homepage plan teaser shows the Quarterly plan at €18 per month (€54 every 3 months) with "Unlimited AI features", using a different currency and wording from the pricing page.
  • A third-party roundup summarizes the Free plan as available without AI features, which differs from the limited free uses described by Kickresume.

Students and add-ons

The pricing FAQ says Kickresume is free for all students who can prove their status with ISIC, ITIC or UNiDAYS. The student page instead describes a time-limited offer of up to 180 days of Premium. Human proofreading is a separate purchase: Grammar Correction costs $30 per resume, covers English and Spanish, and is ready in two work days or less.

Refunds, renewal and price changes

  • The paid plan cards on the pricing page show a "14-day money back guarantee".
  • The Terms state that subscriptions and one-off services are non-returnable, and that you may cancel but no refunds are paid on any remaining subscription period.
  • The Terms say a new user may be offered a 14-day money back guarantee, and that it applies only once to the same user.
  • Upgrading counts as explicit consent to start the service before the 14-day withdrawal period ends, and the Terms say the right to withdraw within that period cannot then be exercised.
  • Auto-renew is selected automatically on purchase; to stop a renewal you have to cancel before the current subscription term ends.
  • Kickresume says it will give advance notice of changes in recurring fees, and that increases apply only after the current billing cycle.
  • If Kickresume blocks your access without any reason, the Terms give you a right to a refund of the proportional part of the remaining subscription period.
  • Debit and credit cards and other methods such as PayPal are accepted, and the Terms note that payment methods may vary by country.

Kickresume alternatives

  • Teal: a third-party product launch platform suggests it for end-to-end job tracking with a fast resume builder. A hands-on roundup lists it for tracking multiple job applications, a need Kickresume's own tracker partly covers.
  • Jobscan: the same roundup lists it for optimizing a CV for ATS, the job Kickresume's checker also targets.
  • SheetsResume: the roundup suggests it to readers looking for an alternative with AI included for free.
  • Zety, Rezi, Enhancv and Teal: Kickresume publishes its own comparison pages against these builders; they are written by the vendor and are not independent assessments.

Limitations

  • AI drafts need your input: Kickresume itself warns that artificial intelligence doesn't know you and cannot tell your story the way you could, and advises caution with its cover letter writer.
  • Monthly AI caps: AI Writer use is capped per month, with credits added at the start of each billing period, because each AI request costs Kickresume money.
  • Import cleanup: some of the original LinkedIn formatting can get lost during import, so imported resumes need manual fixes.
  • Translation review: Kickresume recommends reviewing a resume after machine translation.
  • Template control: the same third-party review summary of 695 reviews reports that some people found certain templates have poor spacing and that not everything can be adjusted manually.
  • No accuracy warranty: the Terms say Kickresume does not warrant the accuracy, likely results or reliability of materials on its services.
  • Age requirement: users must be at least 16 years old or use the site under the supervision of a parent or guardian.

Privacy and data use

  • EU base: the pricing page says the service is hosted in the European Union and that users are protected by the GDPR.
  • Security testing: Kickresume says an IT security company, whose name it keeps confidential, carries out regular penetration testing of its infrastructure.
  • AI providers: when you use AI-based services, your data is sent to the servers of AI providers such as OpenAI and Anthropic.
  • Transfers: personal data may go to service providers outside the EU, mainly in the USA, under adequacy decisions or safeguards such as standard contract clauses.
  • Training: Kickresume may train its systems with strictly anonymised user data, including documents users generate. The policy adds that it cannot fully rely on every document being fully anonymised. You can object to processing based on legitimate interest.
  • Employers and recruiters: your resume may be provided to partner employers or recruitment agencies on the basis of consent given through a tick box. The cookie settings panel on the same site says Kickresume will never share your resumes and cover letters with recruiters or job sites.
  • Translation wording: the translation page promises "no third-party uploads", while the privacy policy says AI-based services send data to the AI provider's servers.
  • Retention: data stays available for 30 days after you close an account, and an unused account is cancelled and deleted after 5 years from the last login. Identification and payment details are usually kept for 10 years under accounting laws.
  • Mobile data disclosure: the Google Play data safety section says the app may share personal info, messages and app activity with third parties.
  • Policy date: the privacy policy states it was last modified with effect on August 3, 2026.

FAQ

Q3. Can I get a refund on Kickresume Premium?

The pricing cards show a 14-day money back guarantee, but the Terms describe it as something Kickresume may provide once per new user and otherwise call subscriptions non-returnable.

Q4. Is Kickresume Premium free for students?

Students and teachers who verify their status can get up to 180 days of Premium, after which the account returns to the Free plan.

Q5. Can I download my resume as a Word file?
