Heidi (also branded Heidi Health) is an AI medical scribe and clinical assistant for registered clinicians. Heidi transcribes consults, generates structured notes and streamlines clinical workflows, and the company now presents it as an "AI care partner" rather than a scribe alone. Alongside the scribe it offers Heidi Evidence for cited clinical questions, a dictation tool, a wearable microphone and an AI voice assistant for phone calls.
The company was founded in Melbourne, Australia. A technology news report dated October 2025 says Heidi Health was founded in 2021, began launching products in early 2024, and had raised $96.6 million in total after a $65 million Series B led by Point72 Private Investments.
Heidi is sold as support for administrative work, and its terms state that it does not constitute a medical device or professional medical advice. Accuracy and compliance statements below are vendor claims unless another source type is named.
This is ambient clinical documentation: Heidi listens during the consult, drafts afterwards, and the clinician edits the draft. Heidi says it strips personal identifiers before processing a session.
Heidi Evidence answers clinical questions from curated sources, with citations the clinician can open.
In session, Evidence already reads details in the note, such as age, comorbidities and current medications; from the sidebar the clinician must supply that context.
A technology news report quotes the CEO as saying Heidi both built its own AI model and builds on top of other models such as Gemini.
Heidi Remote is a 21-gram wearable mic that works fully offline with on-device encryption. It records only when started by the user, shows a visible LED while recording, and deletes its encrypted audio once it has synchronised with the Heidi platform.
These examples come from Heidi's own pages, so outcome figures are vendor-reported.
Heidi is built for people delivering care, not for patients: the terms describe it as facilitating delivery of healthcare services by a registered medical practitioner.
It fits less well for UK and EU clinicians who want Evidence to read the live session, for buyers who need a published per-seat team price, and for anyone seeking diagnostic suggestions, since the usage policy prohibits prompting Heidi for differential diagnoses.
The system requirements page still says mobile apps "will be available shortly", while the download page already links to both stores. On iOS, Evidence cannot yet be used in session and source control is not available.
Heidi integrates with Epic and Oracle Cerner as featured systems, and its integrations FAQ lists Athenahealth, Gentu, MedicalDirector, MediRecords, Best Practice, Halaxy, Semble, Cliniko, Nookal, CareStack and PracticeQ. Office connectors cover Gmail, Outlook, Google Drive, OneDrive and SharePoint, and eClinicalWorks is reached through Vim.
| Plan | Listed price (US) | Trial | What it adds |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | Free forever | Unlimited transcription and notes with standard templates, Evidence with citations, 10 actions a month for advanced features |
| Clinician | $110 per user / month, billed yearly | 14-day free trial | Unlimited advanced templates, documents, Ask Heidi and Evidence in patient visits with live suggestions |
| Teams (Practice in the help centre) | Custom (talk to sales) | 14-day free trial listed in the help centre | Team templates, session sharing, assistant seats, SSO and EHR integration |
The US pricing page opens on yearly billing. The pricing configuration embedded in the page lists Clinician at $150 billed monthly and $110 billed yearly, with $480 in yearly savings, and the price excludes applicable sales taxes.
On Free, advanced features share one pool of 10 actions a month; standard-template notes and sidebar Evidence keep working after it runs out.
Local currencies use their own figures: the same configuration lists £70 monthly or £55 yearly for Clinician in the UK and 80 € or 60 € in euro locales. Heidi's AI-information page describes a Practice plan at approximately $130 per user per month, while the US configuration shows the team plan as Custom, so the two pages do not agree.
Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time, with access continuing to the end of the billing cycle. The terms add that Heidi does not refund partial subscription periods, except in stated cases such as Heidi withdrawing the product from market.
Heidi Remote is sold separately at US$299.25 on the US hardware page, shown next to a struck-through US$399, excluding sales taxes.
A technology news report names DeepScribe, Ambience Healthcare and Abridge among other companies in the medical scribe space. Three alternatives differ from Heidi on price and scope:
The regulatory position depends on the country. Heidi's terms state that the product does not constitute a medical device. In the UK, the MHRA's public device register lists Heidi Health Ltd with a registered Class I general medical device under the term "Digital dictation system", brand name "Heidi Health", created in February 2025; Heidi's UK blog describes this as Class I registration for summarisation functionality. The register entry records class and status only and contains no accuracy data. In Australia, an April 2026 news report quotes the CEO as saying Heidi did not currently have features that would make it a medical device under the TGA definition.
Heidi may rate-limit or cap queries it considers beyond reasonable use. The Translation feature is in beta and intended only for clinicians fluent in both languages.
On training, the pages differ in emphasis. The UK compliance FAQ says Heidi does not use patient or customer data to train or fine-tune its AI models in any market or plan tier. The privacy policy separately allows de-identified information, including health information, to be used to develop and improve the Platform, and says Evidence queries may be used in de-identified form to improve it while PHI will not be used for model training.
As captured on September 21, 2026, a third-party review platform showed a 3.1 overall score across 503 reviews, with 73% five-star and 8% one-star ratings. Its AI-generated summary of 57 recent reviews reported complaints about slow customer service, freezing apps and missing transcript data. Heidi's own figures also vary: weekly volume appears as 1.5 million, 2.5 million and 2,789,700 on different pages, and language support as 110+ on the Scribe page but "over 30" in a trainee FAQ.
Yes, according to Heidi: it describes itself as a Business Associate and makes a BAA available to every covered entity it works with.
Not by default. Audio is discarded after transcription, except for offline mobile recordings cached until reconnection.
It depends on the market: the terms say it is not one, while the UK register lists a Class I digital dictation system.
Yes. Free covers unlimited transcription with standard templates and sidebar Evidence, and trainees can get Clinician free after verification.
